Mad - quick question. I want to join the facebook MN Fly group but I dont want all my friends to see me on it (they dont know I MN). Is there a way to make the group secret so it doesnt appear on my profile?

Hopefully off out today for new shoes for DDs, then have BIL coming over later.

Hope everyone got some sleep....

Morning - an exhausted mad checking in.

DH and I took shifts last night - I was in bed by 9.20, so he was up till 1 with DS, me from then. I am expecting a call from GP at 10.15. I WILL NOT have another night where DS1 is in so mych pain.

Anne I have done it I think.

I am dropping DS2 at my mums this morning, DH is having a haircut and then we are going to decorate DS2's room, before collecting him and taking him and mum to aldi.

grouchyoscar · 30/12/2008 09:33

Beeping hell Mad DH is rightously narked about DS1's treatment by the hospital. You are right to demand effective meds from the GP. Hope you and DS and DH get some rest today.

OH, Hello

I'm going to check my bank account today If you hear a cyber shriek it will be me.

Maisie Monster Moggy needs a trip to the vet before new year, she has another ear infection. I'll see if I can book FIL for a trip to the surgery.

Ed is plonking away on his keyboard, DH is building his beetle, I suppose I better check the accounts

Deep breath.....

SirCharlieStinkySocks · 30/12/2008 10:03

Morning all, hope you had a good Christmas.

Well as predicted I only got 2 hrs sleep Xmas Eve due to overexcited dh who finally got us all out of bed at 6am. Honestly he's worse than the kids!!

Anyway kids had a lovely time I got spoilt as well which was fab but now I really have to get back to reality and clean especially as bro in law thoughtfully gave us a d&v bug for Christmas.

Done
Bought new laundry basket
Kids breakfast

To Do
Wait in for phone engineer as my phone is dead and when you ring my house phone from mobile it goes through to a completely different number!!!

Massive tidy and sort out

Dishes

Have a good day guys

SirCharlieStinkySocks · 30/12/2008 10:09

Mad only just caught up with the threads, hope ds is feeling better must be awful for you all, dd had a missed broken foot back in the autumn so I can understand what you're going through.

Grouchy Sorry about Florence, it's heartbreaking when a pet passes away, I lost my cat's sister when they were kittens she was hit on the main road and left there but luckily someone pocked her up and rang my number which was on her collar.

Wolfcub · 30/12/2008 10:30

morning all mad I hope the to gives ds something to help with the pain poor kid it's just not fair that the hospital wouldn't give him something. I'll keep my fingers crossed that the gp is more considerate

grouchy I know what you mean about checking the finances, I am worried about ours becUse we had to suspend the online banking just in case the bastard burglars could get into it I have no idea where we are moneywise

Done
Dw loaded and on
Kitchen tidied a bit
Bed made
Ds dressed
Me showered and dressed
Ds fed
Living room straightened
Some washing put away

Just having a little mn break before I start the next round of jobs while ds is watching something special

Jas · 30/12/2008 11:33

Morning, and thanks Anne. I'm pretty sure the f/b thing is private already.

for ds1 and for you not being able to help him, TMH I hope the gp can help.

GO - Sorry to hear about Florence. I would be comforted that she held on until you could be with her, though.

Banking is scary for us all atm. I have sent dp to our branch with cash this am (a 1/2 hour drive on a good day) from the dds money boxes to cover the bills due out this week

DP has been cleaning constantly (he is much more houseproud than me, and at home all the time for now) so not too much urgent to do.

I'm considering taking down the decs already....

Spiderplant · 30/12/2008 11:44

Morning all

As you can see..new name
Its part of my fresh new look towards 2009

I didn't realise there was a MN group on Facebook.....I shall investigate and get myself in it (or am I already in it? )

Well I have spent all morning so far on MSE. I've written to our banks/credit card suppliers in an attempt to get charges back and have worked out a budget plan as well(well I'm half way through it)

I am also going back to work
So am currently job hunting. DH and I had a lengthy discussion the other night and it is about time we made some significant changes and me going back to work is one of them. DH is SE so he can drop his hours to part time to accomodate the DC and I can hopefully work full time again.

I'm a bit and a bit and a bit and a bit all at the same time!!!

We'll have to see how it goes but it looks like the best solution we can come up with and we desperatly need to sort our finances out.

Mad Hope all goes well with the GP poor DS. I have to say my DS was in agony when he broke his collar bone, but other than pain killers, they can't do much else for them Hope his pain eases soon xx

Right....better get on and do some housework!

Jas · 30/12/2008 11:57

I've just checked....MN FLY is secret and does not appear on your profile

at Spiderplant and hopes I've worked out who you are !

AnneOfAvonlea · 30/12/2008 11:57

Can someone invite me to thefacebook group as Mad has hidden it so well that now I cant find it

Been out to the shops. DD2 fell in love with this It was £45 though so I said no. Cue broken heart. I have found it for £25 at littlewoods direct though so that is her xmas money spent.

House a tip so need to get off here and tidy it..

OP posts:
grouchyoscar · 30/12/2008 12:02

Back Again....

FIL booked for the vet run, Case of wine traced (it's just arrived in the UK from Italia!) and the Tesco Credit card sorted

My bank account...not so bad TBH. I knew I'd splured a bit but I had savings to cover it (phew) no other Xmas debts solucky there really. DH got paid before Xmas too so things are not too bad. I am going to adopt one of ruby's resolutions, no silly spending . I have plenty of clothes and stuff, Ed has too many toys, plenty of books so...should be easy.

So far I have

Emptied DW
Put away
Checked bank accounts
Made phone calls
Made the beds
Cleaned out the cat cellar
Relined with newspaper and litter
Take soiled stuff to external bin
Take down damp laundry from clothes horse
Load TD and run
Hung up wet laundry
Done Ed's reading homework with him

So I'm off to have a warm deep bath

See you later

Jas · 30/12/2008 12:04

Anne Not only is it secret, you have to be invited by MAD herself
I'm sure she will when she sees it.

TheGarishlyTwinkleyMadHouse · 30/12/2008 12:05

Hi Ladies

I have spoke to the GP and he said in this day and age no one should be in pain, so he is writing me a script for calpol and neurofen, but withe the max doses I can give based on weight etc - phew. I dont want sediation, as it is not a restful sleep nad it does need to hurt a little (not screaming agony like last night) if he rolls on it to prevent him doing any further damage. The issue is he sleeps on that side.

I can not bring myself to look at the bank account yet

I now need to go and help DH move stuff out of DS2 bedroom.

Phew

Another ruby idea to steal...laminate resolutions, good one oh Red guru

BTW Rubes is Zapf a german term for 'seen you coming' or 'licence to print money'? They are so expensive. I'm pleased I have a DS tbh. Mind you 'Brio' is evidently swedish for 'hahaha you deluded parent'

grouchyoscar · 30/12/2008 12:57

And big ups to mad for fighting for DS1's care. After cocking up at the start, you'd think the NHS would be pliant to his needs anyway

2nd the red wine sedation for parents

TheGarishlyTwinkleyMadHouse · 30/12/2008 13:12

PMSL over Zpah and Biro Groucy red wine will be opened tonight - although I think that DH deserves it most at the moment.

My Resolutions are:

Walk to school and from school at least 3 days a week
Outside activity 5 times a week
Less TV for the boys
Find afternoon activitys, as DS1 is doing preschool in mornings now so will miss his toddlers etc (and I will miss him running off energy)
Play more inclusive games with them (although this is hard, as DS2 doesnt understand the board games etc)
Read a story in bed to each of them (in addition to the ones DH reads to both downstairs)

I am going to discuss resolutions with DS1 this afternoon and ask him to make one.

Now Ruby rember resolutions must be SMART

Specific
Measurable
Achieveable
Realistic
Timley

He he he, maybe we should have an appriasal after a couple of weeks to keep us all on the straight and narrow

Plan Toys - I will empty your bank account.

Can't think of anything else tbh. I find v pricy stuff in the brochures that get sent then I source them from cheaper places or find cheaper alternatives .

My saviours are Amazon, Argos, Wilkinsons and the local charity shops (double )

Ed's fave toy this year (other than the lego) is a table toy air hockey game I picked up for £2 from the local hospice shop He will hate me when he realises most of his stuff is pre owned

Spiderplant · 30/12/2008 14:33

LOL @ all your toy translations.

I have found Wii Fit to be a "Buy me...all your friends are talking about me and I'm brilliant.... but you'll be gutted when your wii fit age turns out to be your whole families combined and your wii mee looks like Jabba The Hut!!"

Well I'm slowly getting through the washing mound. I'm half way through putting it all away and have a pile of ironing to do now too.

DS is playing Clone Wars on the Wii...he's a bit nifty with a light sabre!

grouchyoscar · 30/12/2008 15:09

Ed is supposed to have issues with his motor skills and may be dyspractic. They should see him on Wii Lego Star Wars

Nintendo DS - You'll never see your DCs again

Spiderplant · 30/12/2008 15:51

GO They are shockingly good at things like that aren't they! We have just been visiting family and my DD1 who is 7 had my brother nailed on Mario Karts (she's a bit of a cheat though if she's losing!)

We bought our eldest two a Nintendo Gameboy Advanced SP each (they wanted DS's but we couldn't afford it) and when visiting my brother, he gave us about 20 games!! His kids have a DS each now so their Gameboys are redundant and they gave the games to my DC...they were so excited!
You are right though GO they would sit and play on them all day if they were allowed!

I've done:
the washing,
put the gigantic pile away,
sorted DS's drawers,
cleaned the bathroom,
put a potato bake in the oven,
tidied our bedroom.

To do:
tidy kitchen,
have supper.

ByThePowerOfBaileys · 30/12/2008 16:39

Hi All

thanks for thread Anne

TMH good to hear you have the start of pain management for DS1. It is awful that you have had all this time being ignored!

in the spirit of new years resolutions - I am just going to ask..

who are you spider, wolfcub and SirCharlie? have you name changed in the last month or so or are you relative newbies? I have been trying to work it out but can't.

Rubes - like your idea of the laminated new years list.. am going to buy a laminator - have wanted one for ages

GO - reading what you said about Ed made me remember my brother - he is badly dyslexic and yet once he is on a computer he is away - has a great job in london - just don't get him to write anything with a pen.

did my morning routine before heading to the panto - was brilliant!
have done an hours ironing.
dinner is in the oven

Spiderplant · 30/12/2008 16:52

Blimey it has taken me nearly an hour to clean the kitchen!!

Sparkling now though....I even washed the bin...inside and out!
Supper is nearly done now too.

Baileys I'm not a newbie...I name changed only today... whispers...was luda

Right well I have to pop the sausages in...see you later peeps

Countingtheflocksbynight · 30/12/2008 18:20

Hello all

Pls can I ask a question?

I've "flown" intermittently with good results (and crash landed a few times) but want to start again and take it more seriously from 1 Jan ...

Can I (and anyone else who wants to start in the New Year) join this thread please? Wd that be OK?

Also, once I've completed the 31 baby-steps do I then plunge in and do the zones and missions and things? Is that right?
