what colour is your bathroom?

Just curious as we've just moved & ours has a horrid peach suite & is tiled with nasty white tiles to about 2/3 of the way up the wall. It wouldn't be so bad if the tiles were neat but they look like they would if I'd attempted them myself! Any ideas for something that may distract the eye from the tiles and awful suite without clashing badly?

Ours is th emost hideous in the world.
It has black and gold tiles at the bottom and cream wallpaper at the top.
Then one wall has pine cladding (quite nice) but in an orange stain
The suite is white so fine, and the floor is nice wood.
WE've been here 4 years and still havn't done it.

BlueSapphire77 · 27/12/2008 16:04

Mines lilac/purple whatever
Or at least it will be when i get round to finishing it
You will need to replace the tiles or maybe use that tile paint to spruce em up or at least try to match the suite? Peach or cream tiles...
Best of luck with that one

SleighGirl · 27/12/2008 16:07

Champagne suite but with a white loo seat, the room is 3 shades of green and pink, it is truly hideous!

HeadFairy · 27/12/2008 16:07

White suite with these tiles Just had it done and I'm so pleased as it was awful before, cracked bathtub, mouldy old tiles, mould on the walls, horrendous!

sagacious · 27/12/2008 16:08

White tiles/suite with amitico limestone floor

Very safe and dull as its a new house

Black/gold tiles sound very interesting

southeastastra · 27/12/2008 16:08

white? i'd save up for a new suite if i were you. i don't think i've ever seen a peach loo

sagacious · 27/12/2008 16:11

Um as for the OP's question, peach is really my least favorite colour ever TBH I'd rip it out and nip to the b and q's sale and get their bog standard basic white suite.

ohreindeerwhatamessysleigh · 27/12/2008 16:18

I'd rip it all out and start again, if you can.

We've got one with huge stone coloured tiles on all walls, and black flooring, white suite.
Other has the same tiles on 2 walls, other walls painted white, black floor, white suite.

We've also got a downstairs loo with peachy suite and gold fittings - lovely! That will be replaced at some point.

lucysmam · 27/12/2008 19:02

hmmmm, not my house & I can't imagine the landlady wanting to pay out for a new bathroom suite as she's already had to shell out for a new heating system so we could move into it.

Tile paint could be an option though to tidy them up a bit.

Maybe I'll just stick to something creamy with some plain curtains & hope no-one else spends too long in there!

Mine is currently white, with white tiles around the bath and sink and a white suite.

My dad is supposed to be retiling around the bath for me when he fits my shower but god knows when that will be.

TheVirginGoober · 27/12/2008 19:10

White suit, white tiles, yellow carpet, "Aqua" painted walls.

ChasingSquirrels · 27/12/2008 19:14

white sanitary ware, plain whitish tiles terracotta drag effect paint - ex inlaws asked when we were painting it every time they visited, but we quite like it.

en-suite is white with plain whitish tiles and pale blue painted walls.

Frizbe · 27/12/2008 19:16

beige suite here, with beige tiles too, all the rage in new builds at the end of the 90's

lucysmam · 27/12/2008 19:17

maybe white walls? any opinions on painting the walls white? the flooring is new-ish laminate so not too bad.

Or . . . white walls with a mirror at eye level opposite the window may distract from the suite?

Any thoughts?

is re-grouting expensive? I could probably tackle that and a new seal round the bath over a couple of footy evenings when I have the house to myself

I have silver accessories from the old house as well so will give them a go, just wasn't too sure with the suite itself being so horrid

white walls
white suite
sandstone(ish) tiles

Huge Blue picture 30"x48"

just had the bathroom done this year - very pleased with it.

ScoobyDoo · 28/12/2008 15:05

Ours is white big tiles, wood flooring and then magnolia walls, all the suite in the bathroom is white, we are in a new build and have 3 bathroom/toilets and there all the same!

Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 28/12/2008 15:08

just did ours in the summer and got rid of the gorgeous beige suite and white tiles with gold palm plants.
Now it is an all white suite, white tiles with dark grey tile flooring and silver/ grey painted walls.

RustyBear · 28/12/2008 15:16

This is mine (before we finished off the bit round the bath & loo)

Before we changed it, it was avocado with beige tiles with plants on - did the best I could with nice towels & accessories, but it wasn't much good really.

We have a lovely shower room now. White tiles at the top and navy at the botton with cerise pinks accessories. Before that it was a nasty shade of green. One day I was cleaning and dropped bath salts in the basin and it smashed a hole. I called a friend who fitted bathrooms to help. He offered to put in a new sink and I made him put in a different colour sink so that my DH would have to get it re-done.

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 30/12/2008 23:27

Mine new one is white with a some nicely placed black tiles here and there and a black tiled floor.

I plan on adding black accessories.

My bathroom is sexy.
