What colours are your DSs bedrooms?

Nosey question.

My post-Xmas decorating gene has kicked in and feel a desparate need to decorate most of the house.

DSs bedroom is Laura Ashley blue (light blue)but it's a cold room (3 oustside walls) and needs warming up.

Please tell me about your inspired boys rooms?
Only a horrible brown/neutral carpet to match up. Oh yes and a red rug plus a blue rug (but both of these can go in another room)

DS' carpet is a dark turquoise, and the walls are a very pale shade of the same colour, white gloss and built in cupboard. Blue curtains, white furniture except for oak cabin bed. Then accessories brighten it up - a hanging line with bright pegs for artwork and hanging nets from Ikea with soft toys in. And big red and blue floor cushions.

ScruffySoAndSo · 27/12/2008 12:16

Turquoise sounds lovely and hadn't considered that for the walls!

Where is everyone else. They should be back from the Next Sale by now....

DSs berdroom is that colour too but I have added lots of bright pieces to warm it up - a checked rug, brightly coloured bedlinen, bunting from the white company and his name in big stick on letters on the wall - it doesn;t need to be redecorated just tweeked with bright accessories!

ScruffySoAndSo · 27/12/2008 12:21

Don't know about tweeking- twins (8yo) have ripped the lining paper and little buggers taken some plaster too so needs a major job. Also for some reason the walls are filthy. What are they doing up there?

White walls, floorboards, red metal and natural wood furniture. We went for an industrial loft style decor. If you are interested I can list what we bought and where.

ScruffySoAndSo · 27/12/2008 12:25

Anna - red metal? is that the beds? They sound jolly and warm - where from please?

Loft style sounds appealing for boys growing out of the toddler room.

White, turquoise and blue. Sounds horrible looks fab. Carpet is a neutral oatmeally colour.

ScruffySoAndSo · 27/12/2008 12:26

Mediocre - what have you done in turquoise? I am liking the sound of this colour more and more.

I have one wall painted turquoise one in the blue and two in the white. They inherited to cupboards/wardrobes that were bright red painted so I painted one in the turquoise and one in the blue. Everything else is pretty neutral.
They were tate b&q paints and I just saw the two colours next to each other in their pallete suggestion thingy. DH thought I was mad but he has no vivion.

ScruffySoAndSo · 27/12/2008 12:35

mediocre - more q's sorry. Is this a deepish turquoise or are we talking a pale one. I would have thought that a mid turquoise or deep one could be lovely and warm.

Its a fairly light one but I think a dark one could look even better. (Our room used to be a petrolblue/turquoisey colour with navy- that too sounds horrible

This is a closish thing I can find quickly by googling www.hgtv.ca/blog/photos/stylesheet/images/36304/original.aspx

TheInvisibleManDidItWithSanta · 27/12/2008 12:44

2 walls painted a lovely blue, quite dark blue but bright, if that makes sense. Other 2 walls white.

Blue chalboard painted under window, which has a blue blind on it. (window and chalkboard on white wall)

ScruffySoAndSo · 27/12/2008 12:47

lovely colours - I like the warm blues and turquoise.

Also chalkboard could stil be popular with 8 yo's and could put this under sealed up mantel piece.

AugustusGloop · 27/12/2008 12:53

I HATE coloured paint.

TheInvisibleManDidItWithSanta · 27/12/2008 12:54

You can get the chalkboard paint in a few different colours, scruffy. Just happens that the blue one matches their walls perfectly.

My 2 are 6 & 8 and love it.

mediocrebronze · 27/12/2008 12:57

Oooh didn't know you could get it in colours now.
I'm also looking at magnetic boards for the walls so they can stick all their crap on there and not on the fridge.

I'm decorating furiously too (having a break and talking about decorating instead) as we're hoping to sell. Storing these ideas for new house

Red lacquered metal locker room style cupboards from Ikea , red lacquered metal Jielde loft lamp, red metal BTC hanging overhead lamp, red metal Vipp dustbin. Normal divan beds (extra long) with scarlet fitted sheets and pillow cases (Ralph Lauren) and green/white stripe duvet covers (Descamps).
