Hide the washing in your wardrobe or in a cupbored. Give the dryer a kick

pagwatch · 24/12/2008 10:29

Farking snap !!

smoke was coming out of mine.
I now have washing line full and radiators on standby (when heating comes on)
Dammit

Have you any nice neighbours with tumble dryers?

merrylissiemas · 24/12/2008 10:35

it wouldnt be so bad, but this is the first year that we are hosting xmas. pils are coming, along with mum and stepdad and lilbro. i really wanted to at least give the illusion of a domestic goddess instead of a slattern who spends every waking hour with one eye on the laptop!

Oh poor you. I'm sitting here waiting on the indesit engineer as my washing machine blew up on Monday . I have a nasty feeling its not going to be repairable either, its only 2 years old but we're quite heavy on washing machines for some reason.

Good thing is I have a new integrated washing machine sitting waiting on my new kitchen being installed.

Hope the insurance write this one off then I can just ask them for vouchers instead and put it towards a new telly or something! My brother will lose out right enough as I was going to give it to him.

Keep your fingers crossed for me. Sorry that didn't really help with your tumble dryer did it? Can you stick stuff in the boiler cupboard or perhaps over radiators? Maybe go buy a cheap clothes horse?

merrylissiemas · 24/12/2008 10:36

god no, all our neighbours are either drug dealers or nutters!

merrylissiemas · 24/12/2008 10:36

pagwatch · 24/12/2008 10:37

do you not have a local launderette?

I have one but I have no one visiting so my stuff can wait for a while....

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 24/12/2008 10:38

Have you a credit card? Comet/Currys often have things in stock ready to take home.

merrylissiemas · 24/12/2008 10:38

nope, live on an estate. arrrrgggghhhh. is it too early to start on wine?

OP posts:
pagwatch · 24/12/2008 10:39

wine is a good way to go IMHO

pagwatch · 24/12/2008 10:39

and if you are pissed you mum will barely notice the washing

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 24/12/2008 10:40

Or argos

but it will mean braving the xmas crowds. How desperate are you?

merrylissiemas · 24/12/2008 10:41

shesells, cant afford it til dh gets his grant at beginning of jan. tisn't really wineif its hot is it?

OP posts:
jollyoldstnickschick · 24/12/2008 10:43

if it isnt spinning its probbly the belt thats gone - perhaps your dh can fix it??

only wash what you need for tomorrow and dry near fire and radiators -hide the rest!!

MumHadEnoughTinsel · 24/12/2008 10:45

Never too early to start on wine on xmas eve and no if its mulled its not "real wine" is it?

Therein lies the problem merrylissiemas, new kitchen not going in til end of Jan. I think I can use an integrated machine without the cabinet door though, just won't look very pretty!

Not that it matters mind you, we're just about to knock through to the extension and the kitchen is a disaster anyway! Hence chinese takeaway for Christmas dinner

Could you get all your washing done and get your mum to take it away with her tomorrow and dry it for you?

MumHadEnoughTinsel · 24/12/2008 10:46

Yeah there's a thought it probably is just the belt. Is your dh handy with a screwdriver?

Many of the wee hardware shops etc stock the belts.

merrylissiemas · 24/12/2008 10:48

mumhadenough, lol at chinese takeaway sounds like youve got you hands full!

jolly, dh is terrible a stuff like that. im usually ok but cant get the back open.

mil says we can use her dryer - i think i may love her!
