Hello all

The first week of the holiday and, boy what a day

Ordinary morning, emergency pressy purchase, home, lunch, yadda yadda yadda. After lunch I take Ed to the park to see the swan who has arrived on the lake. Feed wildfowl (I get nibbled by a goose Supervise Ed in the playground and walk home along the cycle trail. See a 'ninja squirrel' and Ed steps in dog poo. Nowt unusual TBH. Then we start to walk from the cycle trail home and someone points out there is a dog in the beck !!!!

Seems the dog was in a weighted suitcase that some expletive deleted dropped off the bridge into the beck. They said the RSPCA couldn't help so I rummage round my bag looking for a number for the council for the dog warden.

Warden arrives in 15 mins, dog rescued and taken to the vets. Poor thing was wet, cold, terrified and had hurt it's back leg in the fall . Night was falling so if the kids hadn't noticed cos they were still at school, the poor pooch would not have been noticed. I phoned the local rag as they always need good copy and maybe the publicity will get the dog a good new home.

DH doesn't know when he's finishing so it's single parent day (again) I better do something constructive

Sorry I didn't get past "Hello" this morning.

My best friend came for a pre-Christmas visit, so I chatted and drank tea all day

The only urgent FLYing is the dcs rooms, but I obviously can't tackle that while they are sleeping, so will get them doing it in the morning.
Planned day out is cancelled (again) due to lack of transport (me) and ill health (my mate) so I may just have her ds here tomorrow instead.

I went to make my ginger biscuits and don't have enough marg or butter....grrr.

FLYing works really well for me but I am now incapable of shopping without a list. I am still waiting for dp to get paid so I can buy Christmas food.....

I'm going to go over the kitchen and start everything else tomorrow

Wolfcub · 22/12/2008 22:29

hello again grouchy the poor dog, what bstrd owners to do that to it.

done

made nice dinner for me and dp thus undoing all of the flying I have been doung today!

swanriver · 23/12/2008 00:48

I,m so glad that the dog has been rescued. You were very quick thinking Grouchy. What a sad story for Ed, but at least he will know good people will always try to help those in danger. You must be feeling a bit shocked by it all.

We've wrapped all the home presents, and there's only the cousins' Somerset parcel to deal with hopefully it can hitch a lift with a relative - too late to post now, and I couldn't get out today with the sorethroated one.

Fridge is stuffed with food. Hopefully no more shopping ever again. Possibly for catfood, although cat seems very overexcited by contents of fridge.

Biscuits iced by dd, beautifully. dss increasingly renegade talk only of telly schedule occasionally mention skating opportunities.

Laundry zapped, though ironing remains a perpetual reproach.
Supper of fish rice and courgettes eaten and cleared.

Tomorrow I need to:

Recycle
garden
hoover
iron tablecloth and napkins for Xmas eve
ring up about parcel
write 5 final Xmas cards with proper messages
iron clothes for Xmas day
wrap dh's presents
take kids to park in car
wash floors downstairs
take a moment to enjoy the holidays.
