This house is a tip,

I've got a pile of washing to the ceiling but no washing machine.
Stuff that needs to go in the attic.
General Tidying in 6 rooms of the house.
Scrubbing
Christmas tree to put up
Presents to wrap

I need to know where to start and how to go about it.
Do I concentrate on just tidying it and actually CLEAN it another time?
What about my washing, I'm hoping to get a new washing machine tomorrow morning but there is no guarantee.

I know this sounds so pathetic but I just feel so overwhelmed by it that it's actually upsetting me just thinking about it.

I know its alot but surely there is a way around it?

Isn't there? I dont think I can cope with the house being this bad for xmas.

can you ship the washing out to someone just to clear the backlog??? even if you could get dp to take it to laundrette?

if you could sort that i would then get the attic stuff away so youre only dealing with stuff that needs to be there.

then general tidy round each room so that everything is in its place, then go round with hoover.

wrap the presents.

and do xmas tree when dp and dd are back, is she still young enough to get excited about that?

Take washing to launderette for service wash

  1. Tidy area for Xmas tree.
  2. Bag up washing for DH to take to Lauderette later.
  1. Clean Kitchen then bathroom, who cares about anywhere else?
  2. Tidy any other rooms - lounge? so you can sit and look at clear space?
  3. Late night watching Tv wrap pressies.

* Whenever DD is awake and ready to have fun = tree decorating

Have fun - just get thee (or DH) to the launderette soon. I had to go recently. You will need - £1 coins x looads - about £10 ime, 20p coins for a dryer (about £3 worth) and soap powder (I forgot that bit and comics etc to entertain DC. The machines washed really well btw!

Ok bought new washing machine finally.

DP didn't take her out today we went and bought machine & DD's xmas present.
So I've ordered a new machine which is to arrive on Tuesday - they'll plumb it in. I can see me having to stay up/in most if not ALL of tues & weds to finish the mountain so I'm moving it all downstairs tomorrow as a start to tidying.

I've tidied the kitchen today but it needs CLEANING so will do that when DD and DP are out next tues instead.

I have decided to sort/tidy over the next few days while DD sleeps and then CLEAN when they're out. I'll put the tree up with her on Tues just before xmas. (we've already got LOADS of decs up)

Then wrap on xmas eve with DP......

Thanks for your help ladies.

Thanks for the update!

Can DH look after DS so you can clean the Kitchen sooner? That is what we do, we do "shifts" where one of us plays while the other does one task e.g load dishwasher. Then the other will put on some washing etc.

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 19/12/2008 15:56

We normally do that but DP is doing extra hours at work so i'm leaving it till he's off. Although I'm doing some bits and bobs while DD sleeps.

It feels nice to have a task but still overwhelming. lol
