Black shoe polish on laminate flooring

Help! Somehow the kids have got hold of some shoe polish and put streaks of it on the laminate wood flooring. It's not coming off!
Does anyone know what gets polish off?

Have you tried using a normal wet wipe? That worked on my lino floor.

Try a tiny bit of white spirit - just on the edge to start with.

Baby wipes do work wonders

Thanks for the tips. Tried a wet wipe and some of it comes off, but it's going to need a bit of work.
