Anyone got any idea why the drum of my tumbler dryer gives me an electric shock if i touch it - it seems to be 'live'. Is this is a serious problem or something i can ignore? Please help!

is the plug wired correctly? is the earth wire (yellow anf green /top one) in properly??

is it electric or static shock your getting??

babblington · 08/12/2008 20:22

electric I would say - not a sudden one off, but a continuous shock that travels up my arm. Plug as is when came from shop...seems to be all correct.

i had this with my sink / washing machine (they were touching so i was electrocuted every time i washed up). there was a problem with the earth on the circuit.

you can install a thing called breaker switch on mains plug for the appliance if electrician not a possibility.

my fil is a retired electrician and this was his only thought.(the advice above about the plug i mean)

we have just moved house and this has only happened since moving, so I can't really see that it could be the plug (must find screwdriver!) Dh is looking for one now.

under your sink you might have a loose/untied earth wire - that happened to me once but with washing machine

This is now happening to me! The pain is becoming unbearable. All the way through to my elbow. Did you manage to work out why this was happening to you? I’m at a point where I do not even want to use the dryer anymore :/.
