Can't get rid of flies

We can`t seem to get rid of flies and they are doing my head in.

We've tried raid etc and it doesn't even make them cough. We used to put the sticky tapes up but they don't sell them in winter.

Does anyone have any tips/ideas?

where do you live? I'm a bit surprised by flies at this time of year in the UK? So maybe you're not? Something is probably attracting them - outside perhaps.

If you can bear it, opening the windows and or setting up fans can help - it forces them outside. The fresher it is inside - smells, light, air etc, the better. But I still think if you're getting flies at this time of year you must have a breeding ground or something so really, my advice is probably irrelevant.

We have 2 guinea pigs which are cleaned weekly and a cat litter tray that is cleaned every other day.

Breeding ground? Ewwwwwwwwwww never heard of them and don't know what they are or look like.

Yes, I think if you still have them now there is a food source and they are breeding.

I would call the council's environmental health dept for advice.

Good luck!

Agree it is a little unusual at this time of year.
I think you need to turn detective and find the source. Is one room worse than others or floor of the house? If the windows and doors are kept shut, do they go away or do you think the source is within the house?
What about bins or compost bin? check and see if they have become a little infested. If you think of the life cycle of flies... bins and rotting food/waste are often a starting point unfortunately.
Once you have located the main source, should be easier to deal with that rather than each individual fly.

Good luck.

Hmm, you have a cat - does she hunt? Would she have perhaps lef you a present somewhere?
