Am I doing something wrong with my Roomba

Because, despite my excitement about getting one, I'm a bit dissapointed . It just seems to miss quite a lot in my kitchen. I gave it a big overnight charge when I got it and have been cleaning it. The room is big but I didn't think that was meant to be a problem. Do you think I'm doing something wrong?

I still sort of love him (Phillip) as he is cleaning my kitchen floor while I Mumsnet but i don't know if I'm expecting too much by being annoyed by stray crumbs!

I got the impression that they're not really meant as proper cleaning tools, but that they really just keep clean iyswim, so you still need a proper vacuum cleaner to do the hoovering, and the roomba just keeps the dust etc down a bit and creates the impression that the cleaning is being done while you're doing other things.

I know a few people who have bought them and sent them back because they're not really that good and are very expensive.

aha! I have finally found Phillip!

I thought otter was winding me up telling me I had to read up about Phillip if I wanted to know about Roombas, but here he is!

Mine's been great but my rooms are small. You could try doing half at a time by blocking one side off with the barrier thing (technical term) that came with it.

Bella - I can't promise mine is the original Phillip! When I got him I had an overwhelming desire to name him that but I have a little niggle that tells me I read about one on here!!

I've actually just looked around and realised that it really is quite clean and I shouldn't be complaining, after all, I didn't have to do it! Might try sectioning it off next time.
