My tumble-dryer vent has come loose - can I use the dryer anyway?!

It's vented to the outside but the hose has come away from the hole and I can't get it back at the moment. Really need to use the dryer today though - if I put a tray under the end of the hose to catch any water and if I open the window to stop the room steaming up, it should be ok to use, shouldn't it? [hopeful]

Open the window and stick the hose out of it. It's what I always do as mine isn't vented to the outside.

sadly the hose won't reach the window...

If I were you and had to use it then I'd just give it a try but I think you will get some steam anyway - even with the window open. If it gets too bad you can just switch it off.

You'll get a lot of condensation near the vent in the machine, but it shouldn't do any serious damage if you keep mopping it up.

Mine often moves when DH pushes the spin dryer, which is next to the tumble dryer, too far back & it moves the hose, which is currently stuck on with duct tape because the joint thing is cracked & doesn't fit snugly -I'm waiting for a new one.
