We had ours fitted a few weeks ago and I have just been spot cleaning it with a damp cloth but it is now filthy (4 kids and a dog) and needs a really good clean but is it ok to mop it?

I use a cloth.

OneBoyOneGirl · 30/11/2008 13:13

I pop ours aslong as it is not dripping it should be fine

cheesesarnie · 30/11/2008 13:15

i do.didnt even think not too.

Niecie · 30/11/2008 13:15

You aren't supposed to get them wet but I use a squeegie thing rather than a mop so as little water as possible is on the floor. You can't really get them clean any other way.

Geepers · 30/11/2008 13:15

I have mopped mine for years with no ill effects

Sidge · 30/11/2008 13:15

I have a Flash power mop - have used it on the laminate for years and no problems so far.

I hoover it first then mop it.

giraffescantdancethetango · 30/11/2008 13:16

Do you have a spare bit you can test it on first?

cornsilk · 30/11/2008 13:18

Not sure what difference using a mop will make TBH- they're meant to be hard wearing so it should be fine.

We mop ours, too. I say we. I mean DH. He gets them good and wet, too, but it doesn't seem to do them any harm.

PinkTulips · 30/11/2008 13:27

i mop all mine and they're fine. you have to as they get really mucky and it seems to show up quite badly

AbbaFan · 30/11/2008 13:29

I used to do mine with a micro-fibre mop, have now bought a steam mop and it's fine on it.

moshie · 30/11/2008 13:48

If you get it too wet the edges could start lifting because water gets between the wood and laminate, causing the wood to swell. Happened to my mother because she couldn't wring the mop out very well.

I have used microfibre flat mop for years on various laminate floors.

Spray dettox when it has been from potty training ds1 and he has left puddles for me to find.
