Can I do it on MN alone or do I have to do the whole Yahoo thing? (just wasted 10 mins trying to join the group - unsuccessfully!)can someone explain how you get started and what the main principles are? thanks

so the way I understand the basics is that
doing something is better than doing nothing.
it doesn't matter exactly what you do but spend 15 minutes a day decluttering or cleaning your house.

there are wider principles and techniques but the above is the simplest way of looking at it.

At the moment on the fly thread there are a few new starters - I think TheMadHouse is posting the babysteps from the flysite each day.

I can honestly say that it has changed the way I manage my home. BUT because you aren't encouraged to break your back it doesn't happen overnight, you need to build it up.

Hope to see you over there, you will see that there is alot of chat aside from housework and the ladies are very friendly

You don't have to do the whole Yahoo thing, it will fill your inbox full of crap!

The place to start is the babysteps here, they build you up slowly and guide you into the process. It may seem like they start very slowly but don't try to run ahead, building up slowly helps it stick.

The basic idea is that you build up a routine so that you do the same thing at the same time each day so nothing ever becomes overwhelming. One of the main principles is that you spend time decluttering first, then start your cleaning routines when everything is straight. The thing that worked for me (have lapsed recently though) was knowing that, if I stuck with my half hour per day, everything would sort itself out in time. It took the pressure off anf made me far more relaxed about the state of my house.
