BLOODY MICE!!!

I'm so pissed off, thouht id learned to live with the fact that in winter we get mice. We live in a tiny cottage surrounded by feilds and everyone nearby seems to get them too, cats or no cats. Last winter i was so stressed out as after a weekend away there was mouse poo on all the beds and couches etc . Tonight i have just found two big fecking holes in my not so old and only just paid for couch. Fecking raging.

I have put poison down in the past but worry about using it when the kids are so little, 2 mnths, 2 years and 4.

Anyone know what to do (except move)? So flippin annoyed...

We're in same boat, country house with marginally warmer rooms than outside (but only marginally!).

We get the council guy round and he puts bait in the attic & airing cupboard which is where we generally hear the scratching. The bait is in little boxes which children can't get into, and the guy comes back to remove any bodies. Doesn't cost much.
