How do I know if I have bed bugs?

And what can I do about it?

DH and I have both been bitten for the past two nights in a row; we both have red raised lumps on our legs.

I've tried looking in the crevices of the mattress but can't find anything that looks like a bug, even under a magnifying glass. Anyone have any advice?

If you had them I think you would probably see them as there about the size of a ladybird from memory maybe abit smaller(bad experience in a dodgy hotel in Brighton). Can you sleep on an airbed or something for a night and see if you still get the bites? It could be something else.

If they are in your bed I think you'd have to get rid of it and all your bedsheets etc.

Thank goodness for that! I'm currently hoovering the mattress and can't see anything. I think we're safe.

We usually do, MotherFlippin, but not in the past few weeks due to damp weather. But I do tend to get strange bites in the autumn, which I react to - I get swollen blisters where I've been bitten. Hasn't happened in this case, but maybe it's because I applied hydrocortisone quite soon after noticing the bumps.
