Ironing water - what's it all about?

was nearly tempted, but they smelled foul (Sainsburys) As I only really iron dh's shirts, is he going to enjoy smelling so fragrant, or is the point of it for me to enjoy the ironing more?

Can't believe I've got to this advanced age without it...

I just use distilled water in my steam iron. I sometimes add a drop of essential oil like bergamot to it. Smells much nicer than the synthetic stuff and is of course healthier.

Have never put anything but tap water in my iron.

Alwyas tap water.
Would cost a fortune to use an ironing water, I tend to use a lot of steam when I am ironing and would get through it very quickly.
Essenital oil idea os a good one, does it not stain the clothes though?

I only put in a drop into the 1 ltr bottle of distilled water or a few drops if i buy a big bottle (I think they are 2.5 litres). Never had a stain.

I shake well before filling up iron.

Bergamot oil is very nice in a citrussy sort of way....
