Gloss paint......low odour to stop smell does it work ADvice?

My hall needs painting desperately and with 2 dc's I want a low odour gloss that works.

Any advice or tips for smell. We can stay at my Mums for 1 night but need to be back for school/pre-school. Its getting close to xmas and dd birthday next week so really need to get cracking, or a magic wand to do the job.

when you say hall do you mean the woodwork in your hall (gloss?)

we have recently had our walls replastered and need to paint the plaster work, picture rails and woodwork. we discovered a brand at B&Q called craig and rose whos paints are very low/low VOCs. they have a beautiful range of colours.

we are using chalk emulsion for the walls i'm pregnant with two little children so we don't want anyone keeling over.

i think its Crown which do a 'breatheasy' range which is low VOC too

and ment to add using an acrylic eggshell for the wood

Open windows or if that is not possible (for security reasons)- slice onions in half and leave them dotted around and also fill small jars with vinegar; the smell goes quite quickly.

If you use a water-based gloss/eggshell they tend to be much lower in VOCs. I'm doing our kitchen cupboards (at a snail's pace) with Farrow & Ball's water-based eggshell and it doesn't smell at all.

Its the wood that needs doing like last year.

I bought a paint a few weeks ago, a low odour one for glossing the bathroom skirting boards, it was fabulous and I honestly don't remember any odour from it at all, it was by\called DECO. I've now run out of it, thrown the can away and now can't remember where I bought it from as I have more glossing to do. It also dried in no time at all and had a lovely matt finish. I've tried the internet in my search for it but I can't locate it! It was also quite a cheap paint too.
