Streaky Bath - how do I get it clean?

I suspect our bath was re-enameled somehow before we bought the flat. It now looks really streaky (like something has dripped down the sides) and I can't get it clean - its also shiny in some places and scratchy and matt in others. I have been using the ecover cream cleaner, but its not doing the job. Also there is water staining along the bottom which I can't get off. Does anyone have any tips? - it looks terrible.

Dull I know, but does anyone have any ideas?

Try filling the bath and leaving some biological washing detergent in it overnight. It may help with the stain, but not sure about anything else.

If you're in a hard water area then a plastic scrubby thing with neat (white) vinegar could work.

A paste of bicarb of soda is also useful for stain removal. MoveIt is right - bio washing powder is also good for getting stains out (it's recommended by Good Housekeeping - not that I read it or anything... ).
