Morning all

Our steps for today are decluttering, which works a treat

you can do anything in 15 mins this really is the core of the fly belief, 15 mins can make a difference.

So to recap we should have routines and be doing them that look something like this

Morning Routine

  • Get up and get dressed doing your hair and face
  • Looking at your posted reminders in the kitchen and bathroom
  • Reading 2 minutes of reminders
  • Recognizing the negative voices and changing them
  • Put out your Hot Spots for 2 minutes
  • 5 Minute Room Rescue (pick any room in the house) set your timer and go!

Before Bed Routine

  • Keep your sink shining
  • Lay out your clothes for tomorrow
  • Put out your Hot Spot

Mad I think you did the right thing, good on you...poor boy

I sat and watched a documentary last night on poor baby P....and although the boy you described is obviously holding his own against his mum...one day he might not be able to...like Ruby says, every little piece of evidence might help one day.

I don't think you are being judgey at all...I HATE the thought of children being hurt
I keep watching..or hearing stories lately and they make me feel so sad and so sick at the same time.
Did anyone see the Panarama programme "Rich Girl, Poor Girl" ?
The poor family made me so sad! A single mum, teenage daughter and a 4 year old son and they lived in a complete mess of a flat...there was no physical abuse but I couldn't believe the 4 year old boy slept on the living room floor (they had 2 obviously untrained dogs as the carpet was stained all over)and he slept there on the floor with a pillow and a blanket in amoungst dog pee stains surely that classes as neglect!? How hard can it be to get a bed/mattress or let him on the sofa even and why haven't social services done anything?! By the end of the programme the daughter had applied for a grant on behalf of the mother and bought the poor boy a bed....all he had to say was, he liked it because it wasn't itchy like the floor!
The daughter pretty much did everything the mother should be doing and the 4 year old wasn't in school because the daughter "didn't know" he was supposed to be!
Its soooo sad.

Sorry for the prattle on there!

I'd better go and fix some supper for my lot...they are raiding cupboards I think!

AnneOfAvonlea · 18/11/2008 16:36

swanriver - you a right about babysteps. And lol @ zaws. I started to scan the thread to see who it was.

luda - that programme sounds very sad. I havent really been looking into the Baby P story. I find things like this much more upsetting since I've had children of my own.

TheMadHouse · 18/11/2008 17:30

Baby steps are really important as they are the foundation for your whole routine.

Flowery How are you feeling?

Anne Do they have a lake?

(Luda* I can not watch or read these things as they make me physically sick now I have children of my own. How anyone could harm an innocent child has always been beyond me

Boys are in the bath and are am dishing up dinner. The last hour has been a challenge.

I have put the bedding in the loft - sick of waiting for DH to do it

I have also emptied the craft chest and brought the bits downstairs - will sort after dinner
Chest is in the office for all the PC bits still in a carboard box we moved in 2 years ago. DH is to put them in.

Yes Mad, they have a lake

Bewilderbeast · 18/11/2008 18:07

evening all

just popping in to say hello, been a busy day with ds poorly and my mother poorly so an emergency day off for me.

Just finally getting a sit down and a cuppa.

wendylanguage · 18/11/2008 18:39

Evening all, been absent last few days, seem very busy! Managed baby steps mostly but nothing else since last week. Too tired, still not getting to bed early enough!

Play mat sounds great Anne - just shows you kids love anything home made!

Mad you've had a day and a half, haven't you. Hope your nerves have recovered. IMO you did the right thing.

Need to go and read a story to DD! I know that I still need to tell you all what I am pondering on (and need your advice, more like it!)

Jas · 18/11/2008 19:42

MAD You've definitely done the right thing by telling the school.

I've had my hair cut Very short bob Everyone I passed on the way to the school run this pm complimented me on it
I'm going to dye it again tonight I think.

£1 land and Wilkos are on my shopping list for next week. I have this idea that M&S are doing 20 % off on Thursday this week......sure I saw it on here but can't find it now, so I'm going there on Thursday to try and get something for MIL.

I'm intrigued Wendy.....

giddykipper · 18/11/2008 19:48

Thanks for the recap TMH

There is no way that I'm going to be able to find 5 minutes in a morning to do a room rescue. Everything is timed to the second between getting up and leaving the house for nursery/work. The rest of the routine is working well though.

Jas · 18/11/2008 19:54

That's the thing with doing all the babysteps, Giddy, you will be able to adapt the routines to suit your family. I don't do room rescuing in the morning, either, for similar reasons.

intravenouscoffee · 18/11/2008 20:08

Evening all. Have spent the day at Child Protection training - sadly appropriate for what Mad saw today. Can only agree with what others have said, you were ABSOLUTELY right to report it.

Very little flying done today. Need to do some proper zone work tomorrow. Agree with Jas on the room rescue. I used to do one when DD had her morning nap but now that she's dropped it I've dropped the room rescue!

TheMadHouse · 18/11/2008 20:18

Evening all

Thanks for the support - I discussed it with DH tonight and he agreed that I have done the right thing - so I am OK with it

I have spent the last two hours sorting through our art and crafts cuboard downstairs. I never need but another colouring book again. I have brough all my old card making stuff down for the boys to use. All the stapms etc.

I have two boxes of books etc to repatriate to DS1's room, so will creep in and do that next and then that is me done - the ironing can wait.

Struggling to declutter cupboards with a DS on a growth spurt so DH doing it instead. Cue lots of shouting along the lines of "do we need this golden syrup...?"

bythepowerofgreyskull · 18/11/2008 22:12

TMH do you know if the 20% will apply to the things on 3 for 2? I am about to buy toddler group christmas pressies.. 3 for 2 &20% could be great!!

Jas · 18/11/2008 22:21
