Write down any reminders

Hi everyone.

DD1 is ill so off school. I am meant to be at work so DD2 is at minders and DD1 is going to come into the office for an hour.

I lay out DDs clothes but not my own. I have a document on my desktop with my routine.

hippipotami · 17/11/2008 10:51

Morning all

A very late start for me today - did the school run and was then on the phone to various people sorting out dd's party, a job application and various other issues.

Will go and do the washing up, clean adn dry my sink, put on a load of laundry, put yesterday's dry laundry away, and then come back and have a read at the babysteps in the OP.

I lay the clothes out every night [halo emoticon] because it means I can have a precious few more minutes in bed in teh morning!!

Sink shined last night, clothes were laid out.
Feel a bit like a before work routine is beyond me due to the arbitrary nature of my children...

Shannaratiger · 17/11/2008 11:33

Morning all

Despite a 4:15 start, thanks ds, have had a good morning.

W/M finished before school run.
Put DS down for a nap at 9:30.
T/D on, yesterday's wasn't quite dry
Read babystep which inspired me!
I've never done the room rescue bits, always got distracted putting everything away as I found it. Also never managed a quick dust or hoover/ carpet sweeper. Today I managed to resist the perfectionist voice and got everything sorted, dusted and swept in 20mins. I was really shocked how much I got done not stopping to put everything away properly. Looks like the FLYlady is slowly working her way into my brain, not an easy feat!

I am going to work on the getting mine and the dc's clothes out the night before part. I need to clear the clutter in my bedroom first though so I've got somewhere to put them.
I have my routine on the computer as well as written down, much more usable on the computer as i can mark off when I've done the tasks on my current zone list.

TMH you're doing a fantastic job wielding the motivational stick.
AA hope DD1 gets better soon.
hippipotami at least you got your to do things done.
Ruby Lol at the grot shop winos, MN seems to be the place to be judgey atm. Your christmas countdown is great, I've got to take the plunge and try to persuade dd to help me make the cards for the family and her teachers. I've actualy written out the posting christmas card list it's doubling up as a present budget help. Unfortunately £0 doesn't divide very easily.

I'm off to clean the bathroom before ds waked up and wants to help me, a 2 year old isn't very good wielding the toilet brush.

Hope everyone has a good morning/ afternoon
BBL

X-post
Hi clemette

hippipotami · 17/11/2008 11:49

Oh no, Christmas cards - not even thought about them [panic]

Between now and Christmas we have step fil's birthday, mil's birthday, my dad's birthday, dh's 40th and dd's 6th birthday.
So Christmas is waaaaayyyy at the back of my mind, but I suppose I better get on with those!

I have done the breakfast dishes, cleaned the sink, put a load of laundry on and put yesterdays' load away.
Have also re-grouted some of the tiles around the bathroom sink and hoovered the bathroom floor. Bathroom still a mess though as I cannot put toothbrushes, soap etc back until grout is dry...

Will have a read about the routine thing mentioned in OP.

Re the winos - we now have two of them in our village high-street They pass comment when you walk past. One lurched over to me once and slurred that I look just like his ex wife [worry]
Feel sorry for them in a way, but do not know what the answer is. So I just try to avoid them...

hippipotami · 17/11/2008 12:45

Oh I agree Ruby - I always tuck my bag under my arms and grab the dc's hands....

Still not got any more flying done, been looking at Roman blinds online (gawd they are expensive ) but washing machine is beeping so will go and sort that now..

hippipotami · 17/11/2008 12:46

Hi Earthworm
I have only been doing this since Thursday I believe it is, so very new... please join us!

Wallaroo · 17/11/2008 12:47

Can I join in? What do I need to do to catch up?

TheMadHouse · 17/11/2008 12:51

We are going a fast track baby steps, as it seems most people never complete them as they are really slow to start with.

We are up to day 7 and 8, so take a look at the fly site and join in here

OP posts:
hippipotami · 17/11/2008 12:53

Hi Wallaroo, the more the merrier

TheMadHouse is in charge of us (in a manner of speaking - she will hound us if we slack )

Will try to link to the threads from last week, but in summary to catch up you need to start shining (or cleaning and drying) your sink at the end of every day, and put your clothes for the following day out before bed.
There is more, hang on,will try to link

hippipotami · 17/11/2008 12:54

See, TMH is way better at this than I am, she managed to read, post and link in teh time it took me to do a link...

pah!

hippipotami · 17/11/2008 12:56

Ha! [triumphant shout] TMH your link takes us to a travel website
Nice thought though....

TheMadHouse · 17/11/2008 13:02

I have never been a leader - he he he

A travel site that sopunds wonderful I guess we all could do with a little less rain and some heat and light

I will summerise where we are:

Shiney sink [http://www.flylady.net/pages/begin_babysteps.asp 101]]
Get dressed first thing each morning
DO both and read any reminders
Write down waht you do
Hot spots explanation

Todays ones are at the bottom of the post

OP posts:
hippipotami · 17/11/2008 13:07

I am sooo rubbish at hotspots - I have an overflowing sideboard (is that what you call it?) in teh dining room, and things are just sliding off it...
It is supposed to look nice, with a large candle holder adn a framed picture of dd on there, but I can see: a shoebox full of goodies for ds's Cubs shoebox appeal, teh dog's tennisball thrower and ball, paperwork from school to be filled and returned, a stack of photographs to go in the album, a paper fan and fairy wand dd made at a party yesterday, two wooden blocks out of which dh is going to make mantle-shelf brackets, two pencils, two gogos, a roll of ribbon, 25 plastic stars to be sewn onto ds's ballgown (dont' ask , 14 fabric bows also to be sewn onto ds's ballgown, ds's feather boa which needs to go to school along with the aforementioned ballgown, dd's sock puppet and one glove, other nowhere to be seen. Oh and a handful of dd's hairclips, all rejected this morning in favour of the dragged-through-the-hedge-backwards look!

bella29 · 17/11/2008 13:09

Hello people!

TMH - what a star you are. Could you help organise the rest of my life too, please?

Day is all topsy turvy but my sink's shiny, I'm up, dressed, fed, dc to school, dogs walked and bathroom done, including the air vent

So glad I confessed to dh about flying, otherwise the truly unfamiliar sight of me on a chair cleaing my air vent might have prompted him to call the emergency services

Have a good day, all!

Bella

swanriver · 17/11/2008 13:15

All weekend I have been following instructions. It's been great. I keep opening drawers and finding the right things in them like sellotape or nail scissors or the paintbrushes. These are all things which are usually in wrong place or in the right place, but I can't quite remember where the right place is.
Put several loads of laundry away immediately without ironing.
Sorted socks
Threw out all odd socks.
Found lost library book.
Cooked delicious Sunday dinner for parents.
Forced DH to take all three children to church.
Did painting with visiting children
Covered table with newspaper first.
Felt in very good mood with everyone.

Today
Kitchen tidied
Landing tidied
Read rest of newspaper, and recycled.
Bathroom floors washed.
Clothes put away
3 loads of washing done
Hall hotspot maintained. Stamps on hall table and hairbrush. Good.
DD1 bedroom tidied.
DSs bedroom tidied sheets changed.
Supper planned.

Now off to work for two hours.

Wallaroo · 17/11/2008 13:20

Thank you, I will try and catch up! I have just moved in and we are being really ruthless with our "stuff" so decluttering is the buzz word around here. I am determined to be in control in this house.

bella29 · 17/11/2008 13:56

Need reading glasses. Read swanriver's 'kitchen tidied' as 'kitchen tiled'.

Whew.

TheMadHouse · 17/11/2008 14:22

Right I have had a busy lunch time and need to get DS1 from Preschool, so I am sitting with a cuppa

I still need to do the veg for dinner - my hands have an aversion to peeling stuff

Put DS2's and my ironing away

OP posts:
hippipotami · 17/11/2008 15:45

Right, have tackled HotSpot. (well actually, I have moved everything from the sideboard to the dining table )
Have collected dd from school, got wet adn cold walking home, and have to go out again in 10 minutes to collect ds who is doing rehearsal for the Christmas play.

Then I have to be out again at 4.45 to take dd to rainbows, collect her at 5.45, cook dinner, then take ds to Cubs at 7.00.
Argh, don't know whether I am coming or going...
