....does it work? I am thinking of switching over to it but only if it's any good. Does anyone use it?

For what -- dishes, dishwashers, handsoap, wash machines? I know the 1st 3 are good.

Wallaroo · 16/11/2008 16:53

All of it really. I suppose I am particularly interested in the washing powder and dishwasher stuff but I'm talking generally as a brand.

I use the ecover washing up liquid... its lovely; it gets the dishes clean and I think it smells of lemon meringue pie (dh swears that I am going mad)

policywonk · 16/11/2008 16:54

Washing-up liquid is good but pricey. Fabric conditioner has a nice smell. Washing detergent wasn't powerful enough for the kind of filth I'm presented with on a regular basis. Toilet cleaner only works if you really give it some welly with the brush.

Miyazaki · 16/11/2008 16:55

yes, it all works.

I really LOVE the wooden floor cleaner. All smells gooooood.

tonton · 16/11/2008 16:59

All good but I second policywonk on washing detergent. Though I make myslef use it anyway out of guilt,. Kids just have rather stained clohtes!

moondog · 16/11/2008 17:02

I use it for everything.
I find it great.
I now find the smell of other washing powder overpowering and artificial.

shootfromthehip · 16/11/2008 17:09

I use it all too- the washing powder is not as good as others but that is the price you pay. I use all of their stuff- limescale remover to floor cleaner. I really like their ethical procedures and the stuff all smells lovel. They are also not too expensive if you buy in bulk.

I bought trade for a while and then moved so I now buy in bulk on line- this is the cheapest I could find and the delivery charge is a flat rate (£5 i think.)

Takver · 16/11/2008 17:21

Third vote for ineffectiveness of ecover washing liquid plus priciness in general. There are quite a lot of other eco brands out there which are less well known & hence cheaper, I think at the moment we have bio-D mostly cos they do 25l containers of washing up liquid, but it seems fine.
Agree on stain problems - I keep a sneaky box of evil bio detergent to soak things in before giving away or if they get too grim, and avoid white & pale colours as far as poss (esp red polo shirts for school not white!).
dd would second you moondog on smell - she hates wearing stuff washed in normal powder on the grounds that it smells funny.

nannyL · 16/11/2008 21:57

I LOVE ecover

i have and use almost all of their products

would not go back to evil proctor and gamble products, ever

in asda litre for litre ecover was less than fairy last time i looked

Miyazaki · 16/11/2008 22:38

thanks for that link shoot, have bookmarked it, v useful

madrush · 16/11/2008 22:42

We're happy with Ecover products and agree that it's not always dearer if you bulk buy and stock up when it's occasionally on 3 for 2 or something.

I put the laundry liquid in ball in machine (against advice on bottle) and find it better that way.

Miyazaki · 16/11/2008 22:47

I use the bleach in with white loads and it works really well and sometimes use the stain remover if particularly mucky. Laundry all comes up lovely - as my mum would have said.

this one

mrsmaidamess · 16/11/2008 22:52

Their 'anti bacterial' spray or whatever the eco version is called, is rubbish.

hellymelly · 16/11/2008 22:54

All works well for me bar the loo cleaner.I use sonet cleaner in the lav and it seems much more effective.

pamplemousse · 16/11/2008 22:58

I use it all and am very happy with it.

skramble · 16/11/2008 23:01

Like the clothes washing liquid and the conditioner like the smell too but didn't find the dishwasher tablets were up too much.

BlueCowStillWondering · 16/11/2008 23:06

Love the spray for general table wiping etc. Great fresh (not artificial) smell. Sainsburys has 1/3 off all cleaning at the mo so could be time to stock up.

ketal · 17/11/2008 00:03

Use it for most things, except washing whites and children's clothes - just does not get the stain out, so I use a conventional brand for that.

Pawslikepaddington · 17/11/2008 00:05

Doesn't get stains out but the muti purpose cleaner, toilet cleaner and washing up liquid are lovely.

naturelover · 17/11/2008 11:30

I use it all except for in the bathroom I use the Anthony Worrall Thompson Bathroom Cleaner and Limescale Remover - which works really well on horrible London limescale marks.

I use the washing powder on cloth nappies and it works fine I think. I also like the smell of the products and find more "chemical" products make me cough and sneeze.

Occasionally I wash clothes/sheets/towels with Ariel bio if they need a deeper clean. Otherwise Ecover is fine 90% of the time.

Wallaroo · 17/11/2008 12:41

Thank you for your comments, think I will gradually replce existing cleaners with smaller Ecover product bottles to give it a go and then buy in bulk if I get on with it.

Had a quick look in Tescos this morning - anyone use Tescos Ecover equivilant brand? Think it's called naturals.
