How do you store children's art?

I have two girls aged 3 and 6, who both love to paint, draw, make etc.

I am fairly ruthless about getting rid of half-done or rather ordinary stuff, but there is still quite a bit of really nice stuff that I want to keep. For a few years, anyway!

Any great storage suggestions? The volume is starting to build up now!

I have A3 display books from WHSmith

I've got a wall in my kitchen painted with magnetic paint and I put the most recent/nicest things up there.
Other stuff I want to keep I put in a scrap book in the DS's memory boxes.

We have a folder for the best.

The rest goes in a special, big blue box kindly provided by our local council. It's very convenient - about three feet tall and on its own wheels, and we can store it round the side of the house. Every month they even take it away and empty it.

Yeah - we've got one of those special boxes, too. I do make use of it, honest. But the "best" stuff is still way too numerous for a folder and I'm not quite ready to recycle it just yet.

Maybe I need an archive box in the loft.

my husband is an artist, we use one of his old big black leather portfolios. I would really recommend buying one, they are slim, can be stashed behind or down the side of a cupboard, and will hold lots of artwork(flat)

I had wondered about that vannah, but wasn't sure whether they were worth the money.

I've just filled one of those under bed clothes storage bags, which is holding everything I want for now. But might look out for a basic portfolio for the next batch.

Am also mulling over what I could do with my scanner and a CD, although it's nice to have the real thing.

smithagain I think we googled artist portfolios at some point they were about 25 quid, not cheap. But v practical - maybe get a second hand one on ebay?

Take a picture, then after a while it can go in the bin (obviously not the really sentimental stuff). Then you have a permanent digital record.

We have a scrapbook and one of those hanger thingies from Baker Ross. There was another thread on this a little while ago and someone mentioned scanning the art works and preserving them for ever in virtual form. That sounds very good to me!

Ok OK, not all off it, but a fair amount.

best bits are in a large folder, provided one term by school for dd's work.

I also make a calender each year. 6 best pieces of artwork from each child scanned and then I print out each month and spiral bound the whole lot together. It's a great Christmas present for grannies and also great for storing artwork if you keep a calender for yourself.
If you have a scanner but don't feel like making the calender yourself you can always save the pictures as .jpgs and then get them made into calenders at your local photo place.

Most of DD's drawing, painting are rolled and kept for wrapping paper .. and i have just bought different reds paints, glitter glues for her to make the Christmas wrapping papers... but of course not to be used for her or our presents, she is only 3 yrs old! But she actually loves the idea of using her art to wrap the presents... and I keep the unusual ones and other artworks in a big folder. And this year, she is going to make the christmas cards, she is loving it and so I am ...

I throw some but have an underbed storage box that is full of things I can't throw away.
