some small animal/rodent that is no longer living. The smell has been around in our kitchen/dining room for about a week, we've cleaned, sprayed, lit candles, plug in air freshners, checked drains etc. Until my DH noticed a air grate/grill at the back of house was open/off and he said the smell seemed to be coming from there but couldn't see anything (this would run under floor of house). So what do we do, who do we call, is it going to cost much?????

watch out for flies in about 10 days....

we had a horrid smell in our main bathroom which seemed to go all of a sudden. we went on holiday for 10 days, then 2 days after we got back, flies, flies and more flies.....

it was truly horrible.

pest extermination company said "close windows, turn heating up to get it all warm and then 4 times a day for 3 days spray lots of good proper fly spray into room" - the warmth will get them to hatch and the fly spray in the room will kill them.

it worked in just under 2 days. hope it's not that bad though

If you can work out roughly where it is (sounds like you have) theres a wonder spray you can get from an exterminators that sort of kills the smell (it will die down after a couple of weeks). We had a bit in a can from a neighbour when another neighbour baited for rodents and we seamed to end up with the decaying bodies! Funny now, years on though.
