I heard vinegar soaks up nasty smells and vanilla in cotton wool is good but does anyone have any good ideas?

Does the vinegar smell of the vinegar (IYSWIM) go off quickly? I hate plastic fragrances, but then I am not that enamoured of bodily fragrances either

Sorry no ideas to offer myself though!

Vinegar is too smelly to use as an air freshener.

Bicarbonate of soda is good - mix a couple of tablespoons of bicarb and some lemon juice (or essential oils if you have a favourite smell) in a spray bottle.

i put essential oil on cotton ball in hoover bag then when you hoover it smells fab. either that or clean the radiators, lightbulbs, tv anything that gets warm etc with fabric softener or essential oil then when they warm up it smells fab!
