Weekend Fly - Family time

Hmm Typed a long post and now it has gone.

I have had a nice lie thanks to DH

We only had 3 hardy trick or treaters, which was good as they scared DS1 I am not sure I actually like the message of halloween [bar humbug emotion]. I am much happier using it as an end of the autumn harvest type thing, rather than a give me sweets or I will do something bad - not really the message I want for my boys.

We are off to York for the day, both the boys have colds but seen on fine form, so not much flying.

Oh and I also woke to the smell of fresh coffee, as DH had put the coffee perculator on - yummy

Morning!

Luda I have a friend whose dd bit a gllow tube and had a similar reaction - v scary! Glad cat is OK (and dd1, poor love x)

I have been awake for ages too. Partly just not sleeping v well and party ds ending up in our bed cos he wet his own and I couldn't be bothered to get up and change it

Kids lively now.
Dh and ds are off to Ikea after breakfast to get some frames to display some artwork (kids) and alos some storage boxes - if I can't clear the clutter I may as well store it nicely!
Dd and I will be staying at home and doing some baking
We have friends coming this afternoon for supper so that'll be v nice

Have a good Sunday all

wendylanguage · 02/11/2008 10:03

10 o clock and done about a quarter of my list so far for the party! Madhouse this party is very organised! That's what being a SAHM has done for me - I don't have anything else to organise or focus my brain on! (plus we're in a rented house, so I can't do things with the house )
Off to start rearranging tables now! I have to fit 16 4 year olds in our kitchen around the tables - good job it's a big kitchen

ludaloo · 02/11/2008 10:13

Morning Bianca sorry to hear you didn't sleep well, hope you get a better nights sleep tonight. Those glowsticks are lethal!
I might do some baking today too

Mad You sound as though you were up early too...hope you get some rest today as well.

wendy good luck with the party you sound as though you will have a house full!

I have so far:
~Emptied bins
~Tidied kitchen
~Unloaded and reloaded D/W
~Put 2 loads of washing in
~Tidied living room
~Got dressed

I'm waiting for DH to get up so I can go and clean the nursery (without the kids!)

The kids are playing doctors ATM.... DD2 has a poorly tummy and DS has a broken eye!! LOL
DD1 is the doctor

They do make me smile

triggerfish · 02/11/2008 10:16

oh, I want to be as organised as you lot! I've been a slob for the whole of half term holiday. House now looks dreadful. Every room is worse than the room before. Where do I start. Feeling slightly daunted at the thought of trying to get it straight by the end of the day!!! HELP!!!!!

TrinityRhino · 02/11/2008 11:12

Rubes It was quite tricky LOL
DD1 decided to tell the lady in the pet shop (we went to buy the cat a pressie to say sorry for trying to kill her! )
DD1 announced that the cat looked like *Father Christmas" which made the lady LOL!

TrinityRhino · 02/11/2008 11:46

Ruby we do a 10p per point system re helping around the house - the kids seem to respond well to it Anything they do which helps me/dh/each other earns them a point (making bed, laying table, remembering to hang coats up, tidying up, playing well together...anything!) Naughtiness can loose them a point or two too! They usually end up with £1.50 or so a week and seem very happy with that. Dd has saved £8 towards a playmibil set she has her eye on

BiancaCastafiore · 02/11/2008 12:07

Oh Trinity, my dd did nappy removal too - I vote fo rback to front nappy as suggested by Ruby*

TrinityRhino · 02/11/2008 12:17

its not that bad yet
it was my own stupidity
I changed her bum and left her with only a nappy on

she usua;;y would just leave it on for a wee while but then dd2 decided to choose that precise time to take her nighttime nappy off and put it in the bin so gecko copied

as long as she has a vest on at least over it then it stays on

some washing is on and more is drying

kids are getting fractious and fucking annoying

may give up soon

tummy hurts, period from hell

is it wine o clock yet?

grouchyoscar · 02/11/2008 13:27

TheMadHouse · 02/11/2008 13:58

Hello Newbies and oldies

I tackled boots at the local retial park to collect some bits I had ordered for chirstmas - it was complete chaos. it ios raining so it seems the whole of the area has decided to pay it a visit.

DH had luch done by the time I got back (jackets, beans and cheese)
TD has finnished
Bread is in the machine
DS2 is napping

I also bought Dumbo on DVD for them to watch this afternoon and a DVD/Game repair disk.

Plan is to sort dinner - toad in the hole

Just Checking in again, as I am just sorting out dinner - toad in the hole et all

We made - Bannana Muffins, Peanut crunch buscuits and lemon crisp buscuits.

Took as long to clean up, as it did to make them. I am really pleased with my new mixer. I have also popped somemore fruit in soak for another christmas cake.

We all all bathed and clean and DH and the boys are watching the GP.

I really do need to get the ironing done
Mop the ground floor

I also have a really nasty rash on my neck - not at clothes hight and I havent wore a necklace for over a week If no better I will need to go the docs, as it is really sore and I have had it since friday

Hello . Hello lots of new flyers

Well my child free weekend ground to a halt when the bloody car broke down on Friday night at 5.30 on the A1! I had to call AA who towed me to services then patched up the car so I could drive home . So instead of living it large with my mum and sister I've:
Returned library books
Bought, wrapped and stashed DCs Xmas presents (Woolies is next to the library).
Cleared laundry mountain.
Cleared ironing mountain.
Played with DCs.
Taken DD to park.
Done food shop.
.

To top it all I have a speeding fine (£60!!!) for doing 36mph in a 30mph zone! (it was down hill ffs!!)

So I am GRUMPY!

Hope everyone else had good weekends .

TheMadHouse · 02/11/2008 18:27

Oh Scatty - you only just got the bloody car back havent you.

I have mopped the whole of the ground floor and about to pop up nad finnish off the ironing.

I am having a mass mediterian moment and hating all the rain spoiling my fun at the moment

OP posts:
scattyspice · 02/11/2008 18:59

Mediteranian Mad?

It wasnt even my bloody car that broke (thats still in the garage) It was dh's bloody car!! We have been patching them both up for a long time to put off junking them and getting a decent one. Dh has been fixing his so I can use it for work tomorrow!

wendylanguage · 02/11/2008 19:45

My party is over! It all went really well and DS absolutely loved it. Only three turned up with siblings (grrr!) but luckily there were two no shows as well (haven't these people heard of texting?). So we had 16 squashed round two tables in a long line in our kitche (luckily it's big!). It all went like clockwork thanks to my obsessive listings and preparation - the kids had a great time and most of the adults sat in the living room and drank wine!! (not me, I was jumping around playing musical this and musical that and generally being manic!)
Just got to finish tidying up now but it's going well. Think I'll take DD out tomorrow morning to have a rest from being in the house - I sometimes feel it's the only way to actually play with them without 'in a minute, darling, I'll just do X' and you never sit down and play.
Thanks for the warm welcome all

TheMadHouse · 02/11/2008 19:47

Mediterian is what we call my hot flushes that I have been suffering from since the ovaries came out. I can only have a small amount of oestrogen till I have the double mastectomy and reconstruction in Feb. As oestrogen increases your risk of breast cancer It can be strange being 34 and being like an old dear. Other side effects are really dry knees, infact they are more like heels than knees at the moment and really dry and nasty hair.

Bewilderbeast · 02/11/2008 20:09

evening all

we've had quite a good day in the bewilder house

done
clipped recipes from magazine
went to garden centre to get slate for the garden, I am trying to convince dp to buy a monks bench for the ktchen
went out for sunday lunch
did the supermarket shop
drew monthly "housekeeping' out
put shopping away
watched spellbound and played a bit with ds
ironing

wendylanguage · 02/11/2008 20:16

Poor you Mad. What cream do you put on your dry knees, then?
16 4 year olds in the house and about 5 or six toddlers, about 30 adults! And DD is 2 in 3 weeks! I'm glad she doesn't have many friends lol.
We relocated 10 months ago so I don't have many friends round here ... so I don't tend to go out every day. I used to, with my friends from DS's baby groups etc. But we have family here now so it is much better really. I have slowly made a few acquaintances from the school gate and toddler group but I don't work, so I don't meet people so much! Plus I love spending time at home, too (which is why I just want to buy my own house! that's another story).
Well what am I meant to be doing on Mondays lol?
