Foul smelling vomit.....how to get rid of smell from carpet please?????

We were up in the wee hours of this morning with our DD being sick everywhere (well not everywhere but it felt like it at the time) Cleared it all up trying not to throw up myself (weak I know) but it really really smells........Mumsnetters to the rescue please!

Give it a good scrub with warm water and dettol and then dry as much as you can by pressing white wads of kitchen paper on it and then some cat litter and you should be able to get rid of smell - worked on some particularly parmesan smelling vomit that DD managed to produce on new white wool carpet in DSs room.

Bicarb or borax. Just sprinkle it on and leave it for a while then hoover it up.

If still smells after throughly cleaned, put some proper coffee (dumb moment cant think of name)in some stockings or tights and hang it in the room. Apparently the coffee absorbs the smell.
