Have too many to put on coathooks.

Yes, and they fall off don't they? Look forward to someone else writing a useful post

A lined basket?

One of those wardrobe hanger thingies with compartments (if you have anywhere to hang it)

3littlefrogs · 29/10/2008 15:48

I put the sets in pretty gift bags and hang a few on each hook.

colacubes · 29/10/2008 15:53

Mine are all in big boxes in bottom of wardrobe, a waste really because you forget what you have, also have a pretty bag hung at the door that has all the kids hats and gloves in, just fling them in when we take their coats off.

On the back of our crammed and creaking coat cupboard door we have:

  • at the top of the door, the lovely Eames "hang-it-all" hook which was a push-the-boat-out keepsake investment; and
  • hanging from that against the door underneath, the bargain "multipocket organiser" from the Holding Company - do a search on that product name on the website (which does your head in with its multiplicity of storage solutions) if the link hasn't taken you straight to relevant page.

Coats go on the hang-it-all; gloves scarves and hats get bunged in the organiser pockets

Assuming everyone doesn't have 5 sets each on the go, gloves go in pockets, hats go in hoods and scarves go down coat arms. Am infant teacher by trade and this way ensures we don't have 30 sets lying on floor.
At home I do same, but unused ones are in respective people's bedroom drawers.

Shelves in my huge walk-in coat cupboard, right by the front door.

1 set each, lob in pushchair and leave behind front door (so that is 4 sets cos dh doesn't wear them).

A sort of drawer sized wicker basket from IKEA which lurks around near the back door like a lucky dip. Scarves go on coathooks but it's only me that really wears them, and I have enough for everyone!
