Please tell me your system for binning disposable nappies. Do you have an outside bin? My house smells!

As it says in the title!

I usually put them in the bathroom bin, which I empty after a couple of days into an outside bin with a lid, which then gets put out for rubbish once a week. Do you put them straight outside, or what? Thanks!

I have 2 in nappies and the nappies go straight in the bin outside. I don't put them into an indoor bin at all, or my house would honk.

chuck them by the back door and put into wheelie bin when I get a chance - never more than an hour or so.

poo is flushed down the loo, then nappies into kitchen bin which is taken outside daily, very pooey nappies go straight outside.

do you not put the poo down the toilet?
double bag them with bnappy sacks and put them straight outside in separate bin

Apparently if you put kitty litter in the bottom of the nappy bucket it helps. Have never been arsed to try it though.

It's worse now the central heating's back on isn't it?

Always put disposables straight in the wheelie.

Don't use disposables all the time. Poo gets flicked into the loo as much as poss, then tie it up in left over veg bag from the supermarket (too tight to buy nappy sacks) and straight into the wheely bin. Wet ones just stick them together with the tapes and go in the bathroom bin until it's full.

just wee nappies go straight in bathroom bin (it's a brabantia with pretty good lid)
poo gets flushed in toilet and nappy put in nappy sac and then bathroom bin.
bin is emptied daily

if for any reason poo cannot be flushed down toilet goes in nappy sac and straight outside

BF baby so no poo down loo solution. Hadn't thought of heating now being on causing extra smell. Think I will start having to cut out the bathroom bin and go straight for the outside bin, must get into good habits!

We have a tommee tippee nappy wrapper type bin, but now we just use it as a bin and put the dirty nappies (not just wet ones) in a nappy bag. It has the advantage that it clips shut firmly so holds the smell in. The nappy wrapper system costs £4-£5 or more for a cartridge which deals with about 100 nappies, so adds significantly to the cost, plus although it squashes up the nappies more it rather takes away a reason for using Nature Babies.

I have just succumbed (sp?) to a nappy wrapper after 10 smelly months using a lidded bin in her bedroom. Got it last weekend and DD has had a horrible stomach bug which fully justified the wrapper already I think!

On a thread on another - obviously much inferior! - parenting site a surprising number of people admitted to chucking nappy sacks out of the window until they got a chance to go outside and put them in the wheelie bin.

I've always have a nice image of some poor postman coming up the path and having to duck.

If I change my girls upstairs I chuck the bags out of the window until I can get outside to put them in the wheelie bin!

(But only at the back of the house, chucking them out of the front windows would be vile).

I used mostly washables.
If I used a disposable I would put it either in a nappy sack and straight outside to the bin, or in the kitchen bin which I would then empty.
I would never have left them in bedroom and bathroom bins for more than 2 mins never mind a couple of days.

I also used to sometimes lob them in a nappy sac out the bathroom window but that was into our own walled backyard so no probs with injured posties

Nappy wrapper. It is expensive and ecologically indefensible, but the house would otherwise stink and I am no way slogging up and down stairs (and finding wellies, torch, etc at night) to put them straight in outside bin.

We used to just chuck them in the bathroom bin and dispose every few days , but dd is now weaning and nappies are getting a bit smellier and central heating doesn't do any favours either. .
Get a just bought a Tommee Tippee Nappy wrapper at the weekend.
Mothercare are selling them cheap for £9.99 at the moment, and 3 wrapper cartridges for £9.99.

Go grab a bargain.
I have noticed a definite lessening of smell.
