How do you get the smell of smoke off plastic toys?

I ordered some toys (plastic but electronic) from ebay for DS for xmas. They reak of cigarette smoke - I've tried washing down with soapy water - no effect. I've tried spraying with Febreeze, leaving, then wiping, no effect. What can I do? I really didn't realise smoke would get "in" to plastic. I will be checking things come from a smoke free home in the future!

Would talc help?

Talc? never heard of doing that.. what do I do just dust it over and wipe off?

I can't dishwasher them or leave in the garden as they have electronic parts and so would ruin them. I wondered if I just left them in the shed till xmas it would make any difference at all?
