How often do you wash your towels?

That simple really. DP is really getting to me at the moment. He has a shower every morning-, uses two towels and a flannel and puts them straight into the wash.
I feel like I work in a laundry.
Myself i also use two towels- one to wrap around me and one for hair and use them two/three times before putting in the wash. DP says this is dirty.
Am i being dirty or is he just making extra washing?

Everytime unless for some reason it doesn't get very wet, ie. if I literally just wrap myself in it from bathroom to bedroom. I would rather buy more towels and do a hot towel wash every few days with them all. I find they smell otherwise.

lucysmam · 19/10/2008 21:35

I'd kill my oh if he did that! They get used 2-3 times by us all, only 4 towels out at a time for bathing (2 for me, 1 for oh, 1 for lo), new hand towel daily, new tea towel 2-3 times a day sometimes & all washed once a week in 2 loads on a Friday.

fishie · 19/10/2008 21:36

he has a big interest in this so can wash towels/flannels/foot towels/ear cloths. job done.

not entirely normal of course.

QuintessentialShadow · 19/10/2008 21:36

He is making extra washing. He could use a shower towel twice. (Unless he brings it to the gym) Why on earth does he need TWO towels? Is he really big? Flannel should only be used once.

I take new handtowels daily.

good god. i wash mine about once a month. only when they smell.

cupchar · 19/10/2008 21:39

when they need it!

muggglewump · 19/10/2008 21:39

Twice a week. We have a towel each so that means they're used no more than 4 times. I change the hand towels every other day.

gemmiegoatlegs · 19/10/2008 21:40

i am usually pretty clean by the time I use towels

slayerette · 19/10/2008 21:40

Good grief - am feeling like a real towel slut now with my once a week change! On the other hand, I do seem to be more eco-friendly!

sinkingfast · 19/10/2008 21:40

I don't understand. If you're drying yourself on a towel having had a bath/shower, how can that towel be dirty?

merryandmad · 19/10/2008 21:40

Oh Make that threer towels, one he puts on the floor (can see this one needs washing), one wrapped round waist and the other to dry hans face etc after brushing teeth, having shave etc.
He also uses four towels to bath two dd's. One eash for them to get them out of the bath, one for his lap and another for laying on our bed when he gets their pj's on.
This is excessive yes????

three towels for dp even!!

FrayedKnot · 19/10/2008 21:41

I change ours about once a week

ish

Or when I think I can;t remember when I last changed them

Or when they smell

Or have obvious signs of DS having wiped the mud off when he washed his hands

I am better with bedlinen

QuintessentialShadow · 19/10/2008 21:42

that is mad. only ONE towel necessary per child. Why does he need one for his lap? Can you get him his very own child bathing apron?

QuintessentialShadow · 19/10/2008 21:42

Cant he take a "dirty" towel to put on the floor? Can you buy a bathroom mat?

MOrticiaAdams · 19/10/2008 21:44

I'm a once a week girl too, Slayerette. Apart from DH's swimming towels which are everytime he goes swimming.

Lifes busy enough, without washing towels 2 or 3 times a week!

FrayedKnot · 19/10/2008 21:44

Why does he put a towel on teh floor? Don;t you have bath mats?

merryandmad · 19/10/2008 21:46

We have a bathroom mat (which he puts towel on top of) and my mum brought him an apron- but he says its silly- men don't wear aprons [hmmm]
i do roughly 1-2 towel washes per day (although I have been known to put the less dirty ones on radiatiors/washing line/tumble dyrer and stick them back on clean pile.

Does he have a problem? Def too many towels, would he notice if u took them back out the wash basket and hang them to dry so he uses again the next day?
We have a towel each and they get washed as required, generally once a week ish, never noticed them smelling but they get hung up to air dry.

MadBadandWieldingAnAxe · 19/10/2008 21:47

About once a week for towels - but we do always seem to have a lot out, so not heavily used.

But crikey to OP's DH - not even hotels change all the towels every day. All in the name of eco-friendliness.

slayerette · 19/10/2008 21:48

I think you need to have words with him about his carbon footprint [stern emoticon]

Get one of those notices they have in hotels saying how bad it is for the environment to wash towels every time they're used.

ScareyBitchFeast · 19/10/2008 21:50

can;t you take them out of the washing basket?
i bloody would

FrayedKnot · 19/10/2008 21:50

Your electricity bills must be huge

Can you put a money-saving / eco argument forward for one twoel per person, at least?!

dramaqueen · 19/10/2008 21:52

Once a week here too.

To OP, just dry them then put them back out. He won't notice. Even if you have to give them a quick tumble it will be cheaper than washing them every day. Bloody ridiculous.
