How will I get Calpol out of carpet???

Pre-children we bought cream carpets, now they have all manner of stains on them.

DS2 got hold of a bottle of Calpol and literally shook it all over their bedroom (with me there before I get the safety police on me!)

Tried clean with soap and water but it has left big black stains everywhere...

any ideas gratefully recieved.

Also has anyone got a steam cleaner and if so does it work on carpets?

Argh! I hate to break it to you, but our old cream carpets were completely ruined in places by Calpol. They went sort of luminous orange colour eventually - and a professional clean didn't remove the stains

We have calpol stains on youngest ds carpet too from those middle of the night calpol doses when you are half a sleep and spill it everywhere. I've tried vanish carpet stuff with no luck so far. His carpet is cream too. I have a hand held steam cleaner and haven't really got on with it to be honest but mum has a big proper one and she swears by it. good for everyday dirt but no luck on stains.

I found Waitrose "eco baby" wipes get rid of almost any carpet stain.

I'm a big fan of good quality baby wipes fix all.

What is the carpet made of do you remember?

I think the carpet is made of wool mix, (about 80% with 20%something else!)

You could try SEBO powder. It is I suspect horrible environmentally but it seemed to remove most stuff - including ink! I buy it in John Lewis with the hoover bags. You rub it in, leave it to dry and hoover off. Some stains take several tries - but sorry no experience with calpol!

oh I will give it a go...surely no less environmental than having new carpets!

Just a thought but your household insurance may cover you. Don't know how much a claim would effect future premiums.

With a high wool content what about a wool wash lotion?

ummm hadn't thought about that,might be worth it, I wonder if house insurance has a no claims bit to it,

and wool wash a good idea!
