its on the rubbery bits on the door - had a scrub at it and got some of the mold stuff off. Then I saw what the in between bits of rubber looked like

what can I do? Obv I know know this is what happens when you forget to take washing out the machine

I cleaned mine recently, it took me three hours, but it is loads better.

Just lots of elbow grease, hot water and a strong stomach! Mine was disgusting....

I have read since that you should do a 'maintenence' wash every month, on the machines highest setting with a powder containing bleach ie Ariel bio and no clothes in.

Aparently our machines are getting all gunky because we wash at low temps with non-bio.

Hth.

Also using liquids rather than powders will contribute. I've been guilty of washing at 40, using liquids and non-bio at that! The worst of all washing machine crimes.

I chucked in half a bag of soda crystals (as recommended by a mumsnetter) and did a 90 cycle which seemed to do the trick. Then have changed over to powders and use less non-bio with the odd 60 degree wash. Washing machine seems to be coping much better now.

Goodness - sorry to hijack - but don't you wash your towels and sheets on a hot wash? If not then how do you deal with them?

John Lewis sell little sachets of de-grease/mould/scale the washing machine for £2/£3 to be used once a month.

Is this of any help?
