I put mine on about a week ago but thermostat at 17 and have felt fine. Kids say they are cold though so they now have a fleecy blanket each as well as a duvet.

Is that ok? I am pregnant so maybe not feeling the cold like I used to. Last winter I had elec blanket on everynight and kids had hot water bottle everynight. Not started this shinanigans yet...... but must be soon!

We've had ours on for about 2 weeks now, just for an hour in the morning and an hour and a half evening. Not sure what temp it's at though
It's fecking already freezing in Dublin

blossomsmine · 16/10/2008 23:05

Put the heating on really low in the kids two rooms, apart from that nothing else on yet! Abit cold sometimes, but to be honest not as bad as i thought it would be!

PeaMcLean · 16/10/2008 23:08

We've needed the heating on a few times but somehow we still have a 4.5tog duvet. Not sure how that works out.

tangarine · 16/10/2008 23:11

Put mine on tonight for an hour to dry some washingon the radiators - we are going on holiday tomorrow and all DCs' favourite clothes needed washing. Otherwise I wouldn't have bothered. I had to wind the thermostat up to 21 to make it click on.

1dilemma · 16/10/2008 23:34

My dh put in on for a couple of hours one day a couple of weeks ago, I made him put it off and get something warm on
he's in a tshirt saying he's cold now
I think we held off until December last year (we just shared heat with the neighbours!!)

Xmasishere · 17/10/2008 11:16

Had visitors from a 'hot country' staying....and they keep complaing how cold it is...so got no choice but to put on CH!

Gobbledigook · 17/10/2008 11:18

God yes, it's freezing.

MurderAtTheDiscoDizzy · 17/10/2008 11:20

yes of course. Not on all day, just morning and night and maybe a little before DC's come home from school. Its freezing otherwise.

Twiga · 17/10/2008 11:21

Have popped on for an hour here and ther in last couple of weeks but not on properly or all the time. Think we're finding things mild having moved to southern England from Scotland recently - certainly getting funny looks some mornings when dropping dd off at nursery and we're only in light jumpers at most - others been arriving with hats, gloves the lot on!

pookamoo · 17/10/2008 11:22

Not yet... just got extra blankets on the bed and a little blanket on the sofa to cuddle up under in the evenings. Trying to hold out until LO is born in November!

not yet..

have fire in the evenings and hot water bottles in bed.

ComeOVeneer · 17/10/2008 11:32

NOt yet. Still sleeping with a summer duvet and the window open. Our house seems to be incredilby warm all year round. We only have it on for an hour in the morning and occasionally in the evening when it is really cold.

nannyL · 18/10/2008 11:00

I still havet turned mine on

it was my mission to wait until October which i managed... im now aiming to wait until the clocks change.... nit sue if i will make it but will try.

I have a thermometer and it says my lounge is btween 17 and 18 so for the 1st time, right now, is feeling a bit nippy... but the sun is shining in right now which seems to warm it up nicely in a few hours

DontKillMeBaby · 18/10/2008 11:06

DH seems to have put it on while I was away with work. It does not need to be on, I saw a bloke in shorts out this morning! Admittedly, I thought he was mad, but it can't be THAT cold.

Bloodystumperlicious · 18/10/2008 11:19

Nope [hard nut emoticon]

LIZS · 18/10/2008 11:20

Just had the man out as our boiler failed to heat up the system and it was cold.

BodenGroupie · 18/10/2008 20:58

I've just discovered the positive side of the menopause - hot flushes - the rest of the family can just wear jumpers

LIZS · 20/10/2008 15:30

and boiler still not heating it up Man can't come until tomorrow

purplemonkeydishwasher · 20/10/2008 15:33

hell yeah. it's freezing.
but then i'm in the 'frozen north' (scotland)

MascaraOHara · 20/10/2008 15:36

Mine still now on.. I think it's surprisingly mild though.. still wamr in the mornings.. just starting to get chilly in the evenings

MascaraOHara · 20/10/2008 15:36

now = not

norksinmywaistband · 20/10/2008 15:40

not yet, but getting mighty cold today, blanket on my knees in true granny fashion - DC don't seem cold though running round in dressing up clothes

blossomsmine · 20/10/2008 21:58

Mine still not on properly. Still got it on low in the two kids bedrooms......I REALLY REALLY want to put it on now though I find if i keep my coat on all the time i am in or maybe my dressing gown over my clothes i am ok......
