which cheaper? oven on low for hours OR higher for shorter time?

in a penny pinching frame of mind...want to know if im most likely 'kidding myself'

so..stew/pots and rice pud cooking for hours..prob six,at gas mk one...versus 90 mins gas mk 5/6

i appreciate you'll be guessing like me...but you may be better guessers?

if you can substantiate your guesses that'll help me guess which one of your guesses is the best guess

i think if you wnat to cook slow and steady get a slow cooker...

these use much less electric than an oven (and were on offer in tesco for £10 at the weekend)
