Im trying to clean the brass on my front door but i cant seem to get it back to brass gold colour again...

as we live opposite the docks, we do get alot of sea salts from there and the brass on my door got lime scale on it, its a dark colour and a rough feel like the gold had come off...im cleaning with Brasso.

it is too late to save them?? as i last cleaned them last year.

or best to get new ones?

New brass comes with a lacquer coating on. Once this has been destroyed by the elements it is much harder to get that original finish back.

looks like ill be getting new ones!. i might as well just get some nice plastic ones.
