Ironing board emergency - mayday, mayday!

The blasted thing keeps collapsing mid-ironing session, which results in some very blue language from whichever of us is wrestling with it at the time, and we are very lucky to have escaped getting shiny singed patches on our knees. I CANNOT have the 'we must get a new ironing board; I thought YOU were going to get one!' conversation with dh again or I will go insane - can anyone recommend one that is robust and reasonably priced?

My minky one from John Lewis serves me well, it has a nice large surface.

if you're anywhere near Wellingborough (Northants) you can have my old one - it's lost one of it's stopper things on it's feet - and needs a new cover - but other than nothing wrong with.......oh apart from it wasn't big enough for my new steam generator iron to fit on

That's very kind of you, FAQ, but I'm afraid I'm in deepest, darkest Londoninium, and therefore must continue my search ... Have just had a look on John Lewis' website, and am checking out the Minky site too, thanks Makeminealargeoneplease.

I wish ... but strangely, I don't mind ironing. I think I like hot things.
