Help! How can I keep my house looking tidy and clean....

I have two ds's, 22mo and 5mo.
I really hate housework so only do what I have to
We have laminate floors that NEVER seem to look clean even when I have just swept and mopped them!
We are moving and have people coming to look at the house we rent, so please please tell me how I can make it look presentable without spending hours cleaning every day????

p.s DS1 is terrified of the hoover, to the point that if I even mention the word he has hysterics!

Please help...........?

How deeply do your DS's sleep?

I used to vacuum at night and during naps when mine were still scared of the vacuum cleaner.

One word and the word is Flylady, it is really working for me and takes very little time.

Just saw you are renting. Not the same pressure as if you the owner trying to sell.

It doesn't matter if it's not spotless does it? As long as they can get round without tripping up or coming face to face with a dirty nappy.

A dustpan and brush are quiet.

Also, if you are moving try to get as much stuff packed up as possible - less stuff means less to clean.

what is the flylady thing all about?

both ds's sleep very lightly! I could prob get away with it with the younger but don't think ds1 would sleep through. Usually I get DH to take them out on the weekend and then I do it, but I can't do that if I have ppl dropping in to view all the time........ Arrhhhhh

i spend all my life with a dustpan and brush chasing dust and crumbs around the floor......

it's the carpet i never get to do, on the stairs and landing, so not even a big area!

Make sure you tidy as you go, don't let things stack up . Declutter as well, makes a massive difference (I am 39 weeks pregnant and we are about to try and sell our house so are experiencing your pain!).

Ditto a dustpan and brush followed by a damp cloth over the laminate.

A dustpan and brush works surprisingly well on carpet. I suppose in the old days people only had carpet brushes. I wouldn't use a dustpan and brush for a weekly clean, but good for picking up crumbs.

Only eat in one room and sweep up the table area after every meal. Snacks to be taken at the table.
