Chilling wine and champagne

We have the christening for our DD this Sat and have a lot of bottles to chill. My DH thinks that if we stick them in the garden the night before they will be cold enough. Christening is at 12.

I think that they will be too warm - and may well have fox pee on them!!!!!

We can't fit them in the fridge, so thinking along the lines of bin full of ice, but don't want labels to fall off.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

i've been to parties where the wine has been kept in ice in the bath. think bath/bin is the way forward. i son't think labels tend to fall off in the bin - might get torn and the odd one may come off but most should be fine.

put the bottles in a bin bag, or various bin bags. Put the bin bags in the ice filled bin. Result = chilled but dry bottles of wine.

Oh, make sure you don't overfill the bags, so that there is lots of "free" plastic and so the ice water can get around the bottles.

Fab, will do that. Good idea about the plastic bags!
