Rust on stainless steel?

Does this mean the appliance is not in fact stainless steel?
Any ideas how I would get it off? Thanks

no it is to do with the nickel/chrome content of the metal and particularly if the atmposphere is a bit damp (you often see it on knife blades in a dishwasher). You should able to remove superficial marks with Peek polish. Robert Dyas sell it.

Not a damp atmosphere. Would be my husband trying to be helpful.
