Roaches!!! please help

Hi there, my dd and I have just moved into a new place and its full of roaches - dd has terrible asthma so if anyone can suggest a more Natural rememdy to get rid of the critters it would be so appreciated. Thank you

We had a terrible roach problem in a rented flat I lived in years ago. The pest blokes came in, did a spray at wall/floor junctions (can't remember a smell at all), and put down strategically placed roach motels around, and it did the trick. Can't remember a small with the spray, but assume it was noxious enough stuff... I think they used the motels to assess the rate of decline, if you see what I mean.... they only had to spray once. And the roach problem was BAD by the time they were called in....

Yes, don't do the stamp thing if you can help it. Am sure I did though, I couldn't just let them saunter around the place as if it were their own...

Do not leave ANY foodstuff out, or open, even in your cupboards- everything needs to be in a sealed jar/container or fridge. Even cereal, bread, whatever.
You need to keep clean clean clean- they can live on anything- even hair and one drop of water!
Don't think there's anything natural that could destroy them- they could survive a nuclear blast- really!
Just try and keep your DD away from the spraying areas, and ventilate really well- the stuff is nasty, even for non-asthma sufferers.
Try and ensure cracks under skirting etc are stopped up.
Keep a can of the spray stuff handy, so any critters you do see can be blasted on sight.
Good Luck- it's hard, but you can get rid of them.
It's more difficult in communal buildings though, if other tenants aren't as regimented.

Call the council pest control. We had them in a flat years ago and tried all the shop bought remidies without any luck. The council do charge but it was worth every penny!

We had problems with our neighbours (they were the source of the infestation actually), but the roach motels just outside our door (nice welcome for your guests!), plus (I'm afraid) regular spraying of your threshold (and the neighbours if they aren't looking) will help, and you will get rid of them.....

That sounds like a good idea, my dd (5) made a comment the other day that I should not open the front door cause thats where they come in - guess she must have noticed (being closer to the ground and that)

I don't think you can ever get rid of them completely once you have them, but salt is meant to kill them. I've got an australian housekeeping book that suggests sprinkling salt around all the skirting boards in the kitchen every night. The author also said that when she moved into a really infested house she took the doors of the kitchen cupboards so they had nowhere dark to hide.
