I hope all are well and an extra thought for Powerofgreyskull.

I've got my parents here later, so toddler group then a quick clean up for me. I may be back at lunch time.

DP thinks his new job wil run through to Christmas and he doesn't have to drive there, so once he starts gettitng paid, everything will be rosy in the Jas household

Morning all

Jas Thanks for the thread. Great news about Dp's job, no driving should save you loads as well
DD is showing her work in assembly today, proud mum emotion. I love dd's school idea of a sharing assembly every Friday, really makes us parents feel involved with the school.

My little monster is still snotty nosed & woke once in the night after going to bed at 9pm . But seems a lot brighter now sat on my knee munching toast & jam (very messy)

Columbo · 03/10/2008 10:21

Morning all. Mind if I try to join permanently? I used to visit it from time to time (maybe under an old name) but never managed to get through all the babysteps.

Chaos today - we had an awful night last night, I got the lurgi, DS seemed to have it too and was v. unsettled because DH has gone away on business. Feeling sorry for myself as DS seems cross with me that his daddy is not here... We were up at 4, so I am yawning and wandering about in my PJs, wondering if its too much of a problem for my younger brother to turn up for a visit while my house is sooooo tippish.

Will try the 15 min rescue thing again today.

cafebistro · 03/10/2008 10:41

Morning Everyone

Jas Thanks for the thread and links. Good news about DP's job.

Tigger Happy Birthday! Enjoy! [Grin]

Hi to Colombo , Tiger and TMH. Lucys will email you later.

Feeling down in the dumps today.
DD is teething and is very grumpy.
The house is freezing and the heating wont work .
DS's only pair of shoes ( we have ordered wellies but they havent arrived yet) are soaking wet and I cant dry them because lack of heating. So it looks like we're stuck in all day too.

I feel like I have PMT but it cant be that as havent had period since preg with DD. I wonder if your hormones fluctuate anyway?
Anyway BBL with list of some sort.

ludaloo · 03/10/2008 10:51

Welcome Columbo

Hello to all

Power is everything ok? I have missed something I think.

Tigger HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Well I have to go cleaning this morning, and then its tidy up time.

EustaciaVye · 03/10/2008 10:52

Hi All. Been into town and bought some box files to sort my computer out. Now have box for my filing and box for DHs (we have filing cabinet in garage). And interim measure but better than piles of paper everywhere.

Columbo - who were you before, can you give us a clue?

Shannaratiger · 03/10/2008 11:38

Back again

DD did so well in assembly, I could hear every word from the back of the hall. Only other kids I could hear were in year 6.
tigger32 HAPPY BIRTHDAY hope you have a good one. Definately no flying allowed.
power we know you're real, it's abit scary though, at least you didn't meet up with her.
lucy glad dc is getting better.
TMH hope you didn't get too wet.
Columbo hello, just do your best and find what works for you. Hope you both manage to get a nap today, I'm sure you're brother will understand.
cafe as my dc's always say if they're feeling upset. Are you getting the heating sorted out soon? Make the most of staying in and have a veg out day with lots of jumpers and a dvd.
luda have fun.
EV Hope you manage to get teh paperwork sorted out. I got one of those concertina files, really good just need to get some sticky labels to say whats in each section.

I think I've wasted more than enough ds being asleep time on here. I'm off to do the thigh trainer before and clean the kitchen and bathroom floors before sitting down on here adn eating lunch.
Have a good monring / afternoon everyone
BBL

grouchyoscar · 03/10/2008 15:14

Afternoon ALL

Theacher Training day today so I've got a tricky Ed today. He is either sweet or infuriating. I am just leaving him to get on with stuff but he seems to be clumsy or destructive as he keeps breaking stuff . I seem to have to have a baby wipe, tissue, tube of super glue, screwdriver on hand at all times. ...aha. My Dragons' Den pitch, a mums' tool belt!

Started today with a pub breakfast. I am still stuffed 4 hrs later! Golly it was nice. wandered through town spent too much on silly things and got some new kitchen placemats in the woolies sale.

Lucys Captain Beaky was a set of kids poems set to music and voiced by famous people of the day such as Peter Sellars and Harry Seacombe. It was good fun and they have stuck in my brain for years. Just realised it must be over 25 years as my Dad got if or me and DB and he left home before I was 7 and just how long has Peter Sellers been dead?

OH dear, going a bit odd as Mark Kermode and Kevin Spacey are on Radio5 at the moment. Def Grouchy weak knee territory.

I digress. Haven't just been eating. Been FLYing too. I have

Up
Dressed
Got Ed washed and dressed
Made beds
Emptied DW
Put away
Swept kitchen
Put bins out
Emptied WM
Sorted for drying
Made pizza dough
Made Pizza sauce
S&S worktops
Shined sink

Got to get Ed to rugby training then on to Tesco for the weekly shop. TTFN

lucysmam · 03/10/2008 15:55

Good afternoon everyone

Very productive day . . . big bedroom decluttered thoroughly (just don't look up! stuff on top of wardrobe still needs sorting)

LO still a bit snuffley and now has no voice . . . .the peace is wonderful She's still sat in her pushchair after oh took her to the shop. Seems happy enough strapped in there for now so am taking advantage n chilling on here for a bit.

I found soooo many clothes upstairs I'd forgotten I had & some are wearable so they're in the wm. LO's bedding is in td after she threw up on it [yuk] & I'm off to make banana bread in a mo to use up some bananas that are looking a little past their best.

Also making fish pie for tea tomorrow as we're off into town if MIL will have the lo so she doesn't get dragged round the shops if still poorly.

grouchy how do you make pizza bases?

Right, cuppa, oven on for banana bread & fish out to defrost. Catch you all later.

grouchyoscar · 03/10/2008 16:15

Lucys It's a basic bread dough I've done it so often I can do it without looking. It's

1lb 7 oz plain flour
1 tsp sugar
2 tsp salt
2 7g packs quick yeast
1 tblsp oil

mix all together with 400ml lukewarm water. Leave to double in size in a warm place. Knock it back and roll out. ta-dah, pizza base.

TheMadHouse · 03/10/2008 16:51

Groucy and Lucy Substitute the sugar for honey, makes really nice crispy edges!!!

scattyspice · 03/10/2008 18:14

Oh dear Ruby, sounds bad .

Done:
Lidl
dd in bath
tea
wash up

To do
tidy up
DCs to bed
bath
telly with dh and can of lager .

lucysmam · 03/10/2008 18:27

Thanks grouchy and Mad will try both ways although crispy edges sound good!

Tigger I have managed to miss that it's your birthday all day so I thought I would sing to make up for it . . . ready?

"Happy Birthday to you; Happy Birthday to you; Happy Birthday dear Tigger; Happy Birthday to you!"

cafebistro don't worry about postage, honestly! They're just sat in a drawer doing nothing since my lo outgrew them. Think we used about 2 when we took her away last year & she was 7mo then & a bit on the small side but we took her swimming a while back n she still fit in them, just

greyskull did I miss something?

Ruby flood, no water & a sleepover? Cancel everything until you have water again . . . even the kids!

Bianca you seem to be working very hard! Are you enjoying it?

The lo eventually came out of her buggy. . . . to shout "dinner, dinner, dinner" repeatedly, as well as "beeble" (table) until dinner was put in front of her with a "boon" (spoon) and a cup of "ju" (juice). Hilarious but maddening at the same time!

OH still not paid, they paid it into someone elses bank account so fingers crossed it'll be in there tomorrow

Banana bread made & fish pie & am going to make something to cheer up MIL when we see her tomorrow although not sure what yet. & I had forgotten all about the fruit that's been soaking in a whole bottle of whiskey for xmas cakes, it's very very strong now! Just one question, do you chuck any alcohol not soaked up by the fruit in as well?

Right, now I'm finally caught up I'm off to wash pots before oh starts moving stuff around again to "create more space". TTFN xx

lucysmam · 03/10/2008 18:29

oh yeah cafebistro is that your address? As in I mean, is that it? very simple!

TheMadHouse · 03/10/2008 18:39

Just made these again and they are so nice and easy and also they freeze really well for lunch boxes

75g/3oz melted butter
250g/9oz self-raising flour
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp bicarbonate of soda
pinch of salt
½ tsp ground cinnamon
½ tsp ground nutmeg
115g/4oz caster sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 large, ripe bananas
2 medium eggs
125ml/4fl oz milk

heat the oven to 190C/375F/Gas 5. Melt the butter and allow to cool. Mash the bananas well. Sift flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg together in a large bowl, add caster sugar and stir through. I never sift

with a fork, beat together the eggs, vanilla extract, melted butter and milk in a second bowl. Add the mashed banana and stir through.

make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients and add the egg mixture, stirring roughly with a fork (don't over mix) until it is a lumpy paste.

set paper cases into the moulds, or grease the moulds well with a little extra butter and spoon in the mixture until almost full.

bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until the muffins come away from the side of the pan when touched. Rest the muffin tray on a wire rack for five minutes then remove the muffins and leave on the rack for another five minutes before serving.
