What do I use to remove mildew?

A small patch of mildew has recently appeared on the ceiling above the shower (despite the bathroom being well ventilated, window open a LOT). The ceiling is just plasterboard painted white.

What product would take the mildew away but leave the paint behind?

Mixture of bleach and water.

Maybe vinegar?

You may want to remove the mildew and then repaint the ceiling using an anti mould and mildew paint?

PinkPussyCat · 24/09/2008 15:07

lol repainting is exactly what I'm trying to avoid

Try the green dettol mould and mildew spray?

PinkPussyCat · 24/09/2008 15:08

Ooh that could be the thing Grammaticus

It's very good on grout and sealant, but I've never tried it on paint

Ah. Could be a sticking point! I will read the label before I buy...

I removed it with a mild bleach and water solution - this seemed to be the standard method when I did an internet search.
