White Spirit Quandary

"URGENT HELP PLEASE"

Hi everyone,

The other day I spilled a good half pint of white spirits on a stack of towels and threw them straight into the washing machine. After 2 boil washes the smell is still not gone. I don't know what to do - have tried a little vinegar but it hasn't helped. I don't want to have to throw perfectly good towels away and I'm also afraid that my washing machine will hold onto the smell and that I will end up passing it onto other clothes I wash. If anyone can help, I would be really really grateful.

I think you might need to use much more vinegar, like a pint of white vinegar, in the wash. And then maybe run your machine through on a boil wash with detergant but no clothes to clean it.
