Having let my microwave get into a filthy state, what should I use to disinfect/clean it? Usually, I use a cloth with hot water and anti-bacterial spray but don't find i can rub much grease off.

microwave some water to loosen the grime first

Add half a lemon to the water - that will help with the greasiness.

Put a bowl of boiling water in the microwave with some lemon juice in it (dont really need the lemon just gives it a nice smell) and put in it the microwave then switch it on for 10 minutes and let the steam do the work.

If you have soapnuts, some soapnut liquid in a bowl heated works amazingly

Thanks, I'll go and do it now!!

I put a tiny drop of fairy in a cup of water and then microwave it and then debate the cheapness of microwaves these days and how i could pretend i have cleaned it but secretly chuck it and replace . i have never done this but it crosses my mind after an exploding beans session.
