i have managed to get most of it off but there are a couple of marks that i think have gone deeper into the wood and i can't get them off. is it a lost cause? the only 2 things i haven't tried is one of those magic erasers and bleach.

Have you tried a baby wipe ? perhaps on your fingernail to get into the groove ?

Or those magic erasers (about 90p at Home bargains)

I once managed to get biro off a cream leather sofa using milk (of the cow variety that is)

Not sure about scratches though

Fairy Power spray got biro off my plastic/fabric table cloth when nothing else would shift it.
