How long do beds last?

In reality, how long do people find their bed lasts? I'm starting to think we might have to replace ours, but wondered how long was typical.

Ours was a wedding present. We have just had our 14th wedding anniversary. Added to that we have moved house (I think) nine or ten times since we got it, so that's nine or ten dismantlings and rebuildings it has gone through. Still going strong! (we are on our third mattress though!)

A mattress (used regularly) should be replaced every 10 years.

ds1 is sleeping on the one I got when I was 14 - so thats 22 quite old.
