paper mites???

I think they are tiny and white.

Cappuccino · 06/09/2008 13:11

there are special mites for paper?

my house is like a big ole amusement park then

OP posts:
psychomum5 · 06/09/2008 14:10

yup, there are special mites for paper!!

I found out when I was a teen and working in a chip shop. (this was in the days of wrapped chips, before all those bags/boxes). We used newspaper paper, but non-printed type, and I often had to unwrap the huge great piles of it, and there were always teeny specks scurrying - paper mites.

they bite too!! you won;t feel the bite, but they bloody itch......

Cappuccino · 06/09/2008 14:11

do they, er, bite you and leave you with a big red mark?

OP posts:
psychomum5 · 06/09/2008 14:14

ah, yes, maybe.

I always had big red marks anyway as I used to burn myself lots (am such a clumsy cook), so I would not have noticed, but I did notice the itching which was from the bites!

belgo · 06/09/2008 14:16

dust mites I think

Cappuccino · 06/09/2008 14:16

ah

dust mites

do they bite? are they white and little?

OP posts:
belgo · 06/09/2008 14:17

do dust mites bite?

Cappuccino · 06/09/2008 14:17

no not dust mites

"Dust mites are tiny insects that are invisible to the naked eye" says a google

and my eyesight is by no means fantastic

OP posts:
belgo · 06/09/2008 14:18

so does that mean the tiny white things that we get aren't dust mites then? Good.

Cappuccino · 06/09/2008 14:22

you've got dust mites

you just can't see 'em

OP posts:
belgo · 06/09/2008 14:22

it seems as though all houses have dust mites though in any case.

psychomum5 · 06/09/2008 14:29

dust mites do bite, and they cause allergies too (I should know, I am allergic to them causing much strife with bedding etc!).

and all houses have them too, altho you can limit how much you might have thro having wooden floors, leather sofa's, blinds rather heavy drapes etc.

all of which we will be getting/doing once we get planning thro for our new conservatory/extension, and re-do the entire downstairs of our house.

SuperSillyus · 06/09/2008 14:32

I have those tiny white things crawling about my kitchen sometimes. I've also had something in flour which are smaller, looks like flour but moves.
(scratches)

They are teeny tiny ghost insects.
Spectral phantom woodlice.
You need Ghostbugsters.
Or Scooby Doo.
