The little buggers are taking over. I am getting quite good at swatting them mid-air but is there anything I can do to get rid of them completely?

I keep all fruit and veg in the fridge. They do seem more persistent this year though.

They usually go when it gets colder.

I suck the little buggers up with the hoover. They are attracted to sweet things, if you put some honey on an old plate they will stick to it. Also keep all fruit in the fridge so they are not attracted to the sweet smell.

I had a little mesh tent over the fruit bowl. The sods are leaping (well flying) out of the bin and fridge now. And there was one the size of a cat flying around the table this morning like it owned the place.

Funnily enough, my sister in Washington was complaining about them too.

I like the idea of honey though. Get out of that you little b***ds.

They also come from decomposing plant soil, so check your plants!
