Please help me fix my washing machine before I end up with water everywhere?!

Washing machine stalled with everything in it, so I turned the dial to get it moving on. It appeared to have finished without switching to off. I got everything out and it was soaking wet. I've put it back in to try and start again but I think I've confused the timer! It just keeps going for a bit then stopping. I have a repair person coming tomorrow. In the meantime can I fix it, shall I leave it over night full of water and clothes or take the clothes out and flood the floor?

leave it - the repair "person" (I like your politically correctness!) will take it out tomorrow!

Isn't there a little circle on the front of your WM somewhere that is a hatch, then you can drain the WM through there, (into the washing up bowl or something). We did this when our drain was blocked (with my resuable breast pads ) and the door wouldn't open until the water has gone.

i have the same thing, drained the water and the stupid thing won't do the last drain and finish spin

I personally would leave it for the repair person, see if they can fix it & drain the water first rather than getting it all over the place

How do I check the filter on my washing machine ?
First of all you need to know that it has one to check ! Not all manufacturers fit them. 99% of the time they will either be in the left or right hand corner near the bottom of the washing machine. Sometimes behind a small flap or behind a plastic plinth, or worse completey concealed if you have an integrated washing machine. If you are unsure refer to the user manual that came with it when it was new (if you still have it), contact the manufacturer or post a message in the 'forum' area of this site. If you know that you have a filter and have located it, generally they unscrew anti-clockwise then just pull out towards you.
BEWARE if the machine is still full of water, all of it will suddenly surround your feet and give your kitchen floor a thorough soaking. If you can open the door, try and bail most of it out that way first, if not get the mop ready !
