Hi,

any ideas how to remove chewing gum fron socks that have been washed?

these are not just any old socks else I would just bin them butDHs new super walking socks!

have put them in the freezer to harden the gum so it is easier toscrape it off but it doesn't seem to make a huge difference.

thanks

vinegar i heard is supposed to do something to chewing gum

I was going to suggest freezer but you already tried that.

Lakeland do something called sticky stuff remover I don't know if you can buy it elsewhere.

I washed and tumbled a pair of trousers with a packet of gum in the pocket. It was really stiff and embedded in the fabric. This stuff got it out really well.

think they sell sticky stuff remover near the other stain removers in supermarkets/wilko

Lighter fluid will shift it - the old-fashioned petrol kind in a tin with a nozzle - squirt it on, let it work for a bit, then dab at the gum with a clean cloth & repeat until it's all gone.

Thanks all - i tried the sticky stuff remover from Lakeland (had it in the under sink cupboard all along!) and it did the trick!
